Treatment in Germany

My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer in 2021. His prognosis was dire and the UK doctors told us very little about our options. After much research I found the IOZK. They couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive. They treated him with respect, care, and with innovative practices. We’ve been going to IOZK for my brain cancer treatment – it is a very special place. The brilliant Professor Van Gool leads his incredible team from the front; with care, unparalleled expertise and the greatest respect. IOZK is responsible for my MRI scans looking better all the time – I have no hesitation recommending IOZK to anyone – if you have cancer, I urge you to go!

Our daughter was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer aged 18. In the UK she was told to make memories and given 6 to 14 months. Not good enough.! So after much research and speaking to people, IOZK in Cologne, Germany caught our attention and thank God it did. We made an appointment and met Professor Stefaan Van Gool who explained the ethos and procedures to us and offered us a plan which made complete sense. We started to make regular visits to Germany, even through lockdown and I can only say good things about everyone at IOZK, they were just brilliant. Over the next four years Laura’s health improved dramatically and she was an able to go back to University and complete her degree course. We never once thought we could beat this disease, but we did give it a real fight and this was undoubtably down to the kindness and expert medical knowledge and care given to Laura by IOZK.

Unfortunately, the cancer did win in the end as we knew it would, but Laura lived for nearly 5 years post diagnosis. I believe this was down to IOZK who are at least 5 years ahead of anything being done in the UK to treat Glioblastomas. Laura believed this too and she always felt better after returning from treatment. Having read some of the previous reviews I think it should be pointed out that IOZK is governed strictly and is not allowed to make profit, it has to break even and plough the money back into research. I would also like to add that even though Laura was under the supervision of many consultants in the UK, it was the straight forward advice and help we received from Professor Van Gool which we valued the most. IOZK was singularly the best decision we made in trying to help our daughter fight cancer.

The therapy is very solid and understandable. My thanks go to the entire medical team and to Mr. Altuntas, who looked after me very well during the treatment. I felt good here. Keep your positive attitude!

I have been in treatment at the IOZK for quite some time and feel very well looked after in this practice. The therapy is not standard and requires thinking, which may not be the right thing for everyone. In any case, I found a contact person I trusted there, and I can only rate my experience as positive.

I have been here for 5 years now but the health care and doctor has changed a lot. It is better since a few months ago. I feel more comfortable now. Thanks a lot!

Beautiful hospital. There are translators who speak Russian. All organized sensibly! Excellent professors in many areas. Everything is clear and professional. Our family is very pleased.

I have been here for 6 days for treating a pulmonary embolism. I passed through intensive therapy, monitoring. I can say that all doctors are very friendly and competent. I felt comfortable. There was nothing to complain about the food.

The only stupid thing is parking, which is quite expensive, and there are not any other options.

I passed the examination in this hospital. Everything was at a high level, the competence of doctors and medical staff is high. Examination and consultation of the doctor took place in one day, so I cannot evaluate the inpatient service. I am completely satisfied with the examination in the clinic!

We were satisfied with the stay at the Nordwest hospital. Diagnosis was carried out in full within 5 days. We liked Professor Siegbert Rossol. We are very grateful to the coordinators of the clinic – Svetlana and Tatiana – for the attentive attitude towards my mother, for providing assistance in any questions. I will recommend the Nordwest hospital to my relatives and friends.

Already from the entrance to the clinic, I realized that there is excellent service here. Friendly staff works in all departments. You did not have to wait long for preliminary examinations. Despite the size of this hospital, you do not feel lost. Doctors are in no hurry and are very accurate, the food is also good, the wards in ZOM2 are first class 🙂 I will certainly return to this hospital for treatment at any time.

My father is in the aforementioned department. Real high class! Super team, calm, confident and always trying to make the patient’s stay as comfortable as possible. Since my father was in 5 clinics in the last 12 months, I must say that we could not make a better choice than the treatment in this hospital.

We were half an hour forgotten in the children’s hospital in the waiting area for children with infectious diseases, and then we had to wait another two hours. The waiting process is really long. Nevertheless, the doctor was good and competent.

The hospital is excellent, the treatment and the medical staff are excellent too. I judge by my own experience! Thank s to the all hospital’s staff!!!

Everything is organized very cool. I cannot believe that this is all for the taxpayers’ money. But in other hand, it is very expensive. Apparently, a good service costs so much. We came here to do an operation to remove a malignant tumor in our daughter. Were very pleased with the service. It is said that the pediatric oncology department in this clinic is, if not the best, then one of those.

I was undergoing treatment in the Nuclear Medicine Department in November / December 2018. I have a very good experience. Here you will be treated politely, they will explain everything and accompany you during the examination! I was treated by 4 different doctors, and everyone was competent and inspired confidence. I spent 4 bed-days in neurology. I must say that the doctors and nurses here are doing an excellent job. I mean that all the staff with whom I spoke were very pleasant and courteous. The doctor in the emergency room (night shift) was very polite and competent.

We made a decision that I should give birth to our daughter in the university hospital. We were very impressed with midwives, nurses, and doctors. The team of midwives is incredibly well chosen, it consists of younger as well as more experienced midwives, all of whom are highly professional and all of them are very knowledgeable. We have never seen such a good working team as in the delivery room at the University of Cologne! As well, the care was perfect in the neonatal ward! Super good nurses and midwives gave advice: how to breastfeed, how to hold the baby in the arms, do up the baby, and so on.

We are very excited! We highly recommend this hospital!

I would like to say a huge thank you for the fantastic support on the way to my sleeve gastrectomy surgery. I was fully informed, supported and ultimately had a successful surgery. Dr. Nagel personally accompanied me, helped me make decisions and was always there for me. In addition to being highly competent, I felt seen as a person. The post-operative follow-up was excellent as well. The pain was minimal, thanks to excellent anesthesia, I was back on my feet quickly. It has changed my life for the better. Thank you!

I had surgery in the ENT department, spent 4 nights in the hospital and came in several times as an outpatient for pre- and post-op check-ups. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the organization was a disaster. I have never waited so long and so often. Processes, scheduling and appointment scheduling need to be streamlined immediately.

Had radiation therapy at the Alfried Krupp Clinic in Rüttenscheid. Whether it will help – time will tell. The organization was excellent, there was almost no waiting. The whole team – whether medical specialists or doctors – were incredibly friendly and competent. Highly recommended!

I recently underwent bariatric surgery at the Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen and am completely satisfied with my experience. From the first consultation to the post-operative care, the entire team was extremely professional and caring. The doctors took a lot of time to answer all my questions and give me confidence. The staff were excellent – always friendly, attentive and willing to help. Modern facilities and high hygiene standard. Would totally recommend this hospital and am grateful for the excellent care.

I was treated at the Clinic of Orthopedics and Special Orthopedic Surgery (anterior cruciate ligament plastic surgery and repair of the meniscus in the right knee). I am very pleased, the doctors performed everything very carefully both during the preliminary diagnosis and during the actual operation. And, of course, during the subsequent treatment during the subsequent inpatient stay, they worked very well and were very friendly. The nurses in the ward were very pleasant and friendly, but due to the large number of patients, sometimes I had to wait longer.

It is always difficult to evaluate the whole hospital. But in the 2C department, where I once was treated, the staff was very pleasant and the wards are good. Besides, I always got answers to all my questions.

In January 2018, I had an aneurysm. My family doctor immediately ordered me to Alfred Krupp Hospital (Radiology and Neuroradiology Department). A week later, I was already discharged from hospital! The first-class doctors prepared me very professionally before the operation (this reduced my excitement). Very friendly and caring nurses! The food was at a good level. Even in the Secretariat, they helped me quickly and easily with my questions.

This is one of the best hospitals nearby. The staff is very nice and friendly – the doctors are absolutely competent. Small organizational deficiencies are likely due to a lack of staff in general.

My brain is myself! I was looking for the safest and most effective treatment for my miningioma in order to avoid possible brain damage during surgery. Immediately after Cyber ​​knife therapy, I not only felt great, but I was able to visit the main sights in Munich.

Thanks to Cyber ​​knife treatment, I was able to maintain a normal quality of life even with a diagnosis of prostate cancer. Most of all, I was afraid that after treatment I would have severe complications and I would not be able to lead a normal life. Immediately after Cyber ​​knife therapy, I returned to normal. Today, a few years after surgery, my PSA level is below 1 ng/dl and there are no side effects after surgery.

I underwent outpatient therapy very well and immediately after the Cyber ​​Knife session went home by tube. After treatment, I had no side effects, which really surprised me. Today more than 8 years have passed since the treatment, I have no complications and I am absolutely healthy. Don’t be afraid of Cyber ​​knife therapy.

Cyber ​​knife treatment allowed me to take up again my favorite hobby – mountain biking. The therapy was absolutely painless, I was able to return home to Austria immediately after the treatment. I am glad that I managed to avoid long inpatient treatment and subsequent rehabilitation. It’s been 7 years since the surgery and I feel great.

All the doctors to whom I addressed refused to treat me. The specialists at the Cyber ​​Knife Center in Munich gave me hope for recovery. After the therapy, all the symptoms of the disease (a very severe headache, impaired concentration, impaired movement in the leg) completely disappeared within three months. I am glad that I made Cyber’s knife therapy in time.

The clinic is worthy. The high level of professionalism of the doctors speaks for itself. I had big problems with the spine (the vertebral disc bones were literally crumbled). Only in this clinic, they helped to make a correct diagnosis and start timely and correct treatment. The clinic really helped me. The treatment was expensive, but the cost was justified.

She addressed the center about abdominal pains that did not respond to treatment in our country. Specialists carried out a thorough examination on modern equipment, and in the course of this revealed problems with gynecology.
