Gastric Sleeve is a surgical intervention used for weight loss purposes. The surgery is based on reducing stomach size %70. Whilst stomach size is reduced, the food intake gets smaller and with the removal of fundus (Small hormonal gland on the top of stomach – organises appettite hormones ) patients crave less and they will start losing weight.
Surgery takes approximately 45 minutes or 1 hour. Most of the time ( Unless there is previous abdominal surgery in the past ), surgery is performed by laparoscopical approach. There are only 4 incision by diameter of 1.2 – 1.5 cm and with the insertation of the camera, all surgery is performed through these holes.
After the surgery, patients are losing at least % 70 of their excess body weight.
