Diagnosis: prostate cancer

I had to spend a week in urology at Alfred Krupp Hospital because of prostate cancer. I must say that I was treated wonderfully. The nursing staff, doctors, physical therapists, and especially the ladies who feed really did everything they could to help me get back on my feet quickly after my complicated da Vinci surgery. Everything went so well that I was back home within a week. So I can only recommend the urology on the first floor and would treat there again anytime, despite the long drive of about 100 km. Thank you!

Diagnosis: prostate cancer

In early March 2021, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After detailed additional examinations, my urologist recommended “radical prostate removal.” He gave me two important recommendations: firstly, he recommended that I go to the urological clinic in Munich – Planegg, and secondly, he recommended that I undergo surgery using the DaVinci method, that is, with the help of a robot – a surgical method.
I followed these recommendations and correctly, as it turned out.

I went to Planegg the next day.

The first fears dissipated already at the reception. In Ward 2 I was greeted in a friendly manner. From the very beginning I had the feeling that I was in safe and completely competent hands.

The next morning, at 5am sharp, we started. I was carefully prepared for the upcoming operation.
The operation was performed using the DaVinci method, that is, surgically using a robot.

At some point I woke up in intensive care. When I lay half asleep after the operation, I had the impression that someone was nearby all the time and would immediately intervene if there were problems.

Back on the ward I received excellent care, support, care and treatment.

Thanks to this surgical method used, after a long operation (about 4 hours), I did not have much pain, no wound pain or anything like that.
The entire medical team, all the ward nurses and all the nursing staff did an excellent job. I felt in the best hands.

Thank you!!!!!

Diagnosis: prostate cancer

I regularly undergo prostate examination. In May 2022, deviations became apparent.
The necessary biopsy was performed on an outpatient basis in the clinic. The result required a complete removal of the prostate. I also did it here at the München-Planegg clinic as part of the Davinci process.
The clinic is perfectly organized: management, wards, surgical preparation, operating rooms.
All employees were very responsive, human and competent.
I would like to mention the nurses of ward 3. With them you feel in excellent hands, and there is a lot of laughter, which helps to defuse the inevitably tense atmosphere.
Once again, many thanks to all involved and we would recommend the clinic at Planegg to anyone needing urological treatment.

Diagnosis: prostate cancer

I applied to the München-Planegg clinic for prostate brachytherapy on December 17. The medical care was highly professional – from the preparation and administration of spinal anesthesia to the consultations on sperm irradiation and to the operation itself. Many thanks to the doctors who performed the procedure.
In ward 4, I was accommodated for one night in a comfortable single room. The care provided by the nursing staff was characterized by great care and compassion; In particular, the head of the shift, Sister Heike Fleischmann, looked after me with love and made my stay very pleasant. Many thanks to her and all the staff.
If the treatment of a urological disease becomes necessary, I can only strongly recommend the Planegg urological clinic.

Diagnosis: prostate cancer

I would like to rate the urology clinic of Sana Offenbach, especially ward 6D.
Ward 6D staff were very helpful. Professional and human support was good.
I had the feeling that I was in the safe hands of the senior doctor and the head doctor. The support of Ms Grossi-Maeli from Nursing and Social Services was invaluable and she immediately arranged for further treatment.
The conversation with the doctor was also clear to me. Thank you.

Prostate cancer treatment abroad: the best medical directions

Prostate cancer treatment abroad

Prostate cancer is the second most common malignant disease among men after lung cancer. According to WHO, about 1.4 million new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed annually, and more than 375 thousand deaths from this disease occur. The highest risk of developing prostate tumors is observed in men over 50 years old, and the peak incidence occurs at the age of 65-74 years.

The success of prostate cancer treatment largely depends on the stage at which the disease was diagnosed. However, the availability of modern methods of antitumor therapy plays an equally important role. Today, many patients prefer to treat prostate cancer abroad. This is explained by the high level of oncological care in foreign clinics.

At the moment, Germany and Israel are leaders in the use of innovative approaches in the treatment of prostate cancer. These countries use methods such as high-precision radiation therapy, treatment with Lutetium-177 PSMA, high-dose brachytherapy, and treatment with the KMI169 inhibitor (used for castration-resistant cancer).

Countries such as the Czech Republic and Turkey have also achieved excellent results. The Czech Republic has the largest robotic center in Europe, where high-precision prostate removal surgeries are performed. Turkish doctors actively use modern methods of chemotherapy, radiation, targeted and immune therapy.

In this article, the medical team of Experts Medical has selected for you the best destinations for prostate cancer treatment abroad. We will consider each of them in detail, but first, we will focus on the cost of medical services in foreign clinics.

What is the cost of prostate cancer treatment abroad?

Cost of prostate cancer treatment abroad

Prostate cancer treatment abroad can vary in cost depending on the country and the chosen clinic.

Germany and Israel are the most expensive destinations in this regard. However, the high price of therapy in these countries is fully compensated by the exceptional quality of medical care, the effectiveness of the treatment methods used, and access to modern technologies.

The Czech Republic and Turkey offer more affordable prices, however, this does not mean low quality of medical care. The government of these countries began to implement programs to attract international patients relatively recently and is actively investing in the medical sector. Therefore, local clinics can provide quality services at an affordable cost.

What modern prostate cancer treatment is carried out abroad?

modern prostate cancer treatment abroad

Innovative methods of antitumor therapy are used in foreign clinics. It has helped to significantly increase the effectiveness of prostate cancer treatment, make it safer, and reduce the likelihood of serious complications. The introduction of new technologies has allowed not only to increase the survival rate of patients to 95% and above but also to improve their quality of life.

Key advances in prostate cancer treatment abroad include the use of robotic systems for surgery, as well as more precise radiotherapy methods. Foreign clinics also actively use advanced radiotherapy methods, such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), which provide more precise irradiation of the tumor and minimize the negative impact on surrounding healthy tissue. This significantly reduces the likelihood of radiation damage to organs located near the prostate, such as the bladder and rectum. Modern prostate cancer treatment abroad includes the use of targeted and immune therapy as part of a personalized approach. These methods allow for the development of individual therapeutic protocols for each patient, which increases the chances of cure, especially in complex or advanced cases.

Turkey: Affordable and effective treatment of prostate cancer abroad

treatment of prostate cancer abroad

Turkey offers a wide range of modern methods of treating prostate cancer. The country’s leading clinics, such as Anadolu Medical Center, Acıbadem Clinic and Liv Istinye University Hospital, use innovative approaches that allow for the successful treatment of cancer at various stages.

At an early stage, local doctors often use cryotherapy, a method in which tumor cells are frozen, as well as HIFU, destruction of the tumor by exposing it to focused ultrasound. These approaches are especially effective for small tumors. Surgical removal of prostate cancer in Turkish clinics is increasingly performed using robotic systems.

If radiation therapy is necessary, the innovative TrueBeam STx system is used, which allows precise targeting of the tumor, reducing the risk of damage to surrounding tissues. This makes the treatment more gentle and safe. For metastatic prostate cancer, methods such as targeted therapy aimed at specific molecular changes in cancer cells and immunotherapy, which stimulates the patient’s own immune system to fight the tumor, are used.

The key advantages of prostate cancer treatment abroad are the combination of a high level of medical technology with affordable prices, as well as many years of experience and professionalism of local doctors.

Czech Republic: robotic surgical treatment of prostate cancer abroad

Prostate cancer treatment in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic stands out for its advanced methods of prostate cancer treatment, especially robotic surgeries, which are widely used at the Robotic Surgery Center at the St. Zdislava Hospital. This is one of the leading centers in Europe specializing in robot-assisted prostatectomy using the Da Vinci system.

Thanks to the high precision of surgery and minimal invasiveness, this operation minimizes the risks of complications such as erectile dysfunction and urinary dysfunction. About 270 surgeries are performed annually at St. Zdislava Hospital. More than 80% of men retain normal sexual function after surgery. These high rates are due to the use of modern technologies and the extensive experience of Czech doctors. Professor Jaroslav Tvaruzek is one of the leading specialists at the center, who has performed more than 3,500 robotic surgeries during his career.

Germany: advanced methods of prostate cancer treatment abroad

treatment of prostate cancer in Germany

In addition to standard approaches such as surgery and radiation therapy, innovative methods are used in Germany. Lutetium-177 PSMA is an advanced method of prostate cancer treatment abroad, developed at the German Cancer Research Center. The drug recognizes the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), which is located on the surface of cancer cells and binds to them. After that, it releases a lethal dose of radiation for the cell. Healthy cells are not affected. The method shows promising results in the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer, especially in patients with a relapse after standard therapy. According to studies, treatment with Lutetium-177 PSMA can lead to a reduction in tumors in more than 60% of patients.

The KMI169 inhibitor is a new class of drugs aimed at blocking certain tumor growth signals. This is another innovative method of anti-tumor therapy used in German clinics. Clinical trial data show that it can significantly slow the progression of the disease in patients with hormone-independent (castration-resistant) prostate cancer.

Thus, German clinics offer a variety of effective prostate cancer treatments abroad, which can be tailored to the individual needs of each patient.

Israel: Highly Effective Prostate Cancer Treatment Abroad

treatment of prostate cancer in Israel

Israel is one of the leaders in the field of oncology, offering patients a wide range of modern and effective methods of treating prostate cancer. Local doctors have extensive experience in brachytherapy, in which radioactive seeds are placed directly into the tumor. Doctors at the Sourasky Medical Center report that brachytherapy allows for a complete cure in 90% of patients with early stages of prostate cancer.

Another advanced method is vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy. The patient is injected with a light-sensitive drug Tookad® into the bloodstream. Then a fiber optic light guide is inserted into the prostate, which activates the drug with laser radiation. Cancer cells die, while healthy cells remain intact.

Prostate cancer therapy using bacterial chlorophyll, which is found in deep-sea bacteria, is one of the non-standard approaches. It penetrates all tissues of the body, including the prostate gland. Then the prostate is irradiated with a laser, which leads to the destruction of both chlorophyll and the cancerous tumor.

Innovative approaches and technologies that are used abroad for prostate cancer therapy provide high survival rates, and also minimize the risk of side effects, which makes treatment more comfortable and safe for men who have encountered this disease.
