Sebastian Wille is a German physician, university professor and deputy director of the Urology Clinic and Polyclinic at the University Hospital Cologne.
Sebastian Wille covers the entire diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum of urological diseases. His scientific focus is reconstructive urology and urological dysfunction of the lower urinary tract, including male and female incontinence. He was actively involved in the invention of the Ville capsule.
Together with Urs Studer (Bern, Switzerland), he worked on the lack of urination of the urethra after prostate surgery.
He has been involved in projects relating to the modification of the radical prostatectomy technique and the risk profiling of urinary incontinence after radical pelvic surgery.
In his doctoral dissertation, Ville described the relationship between preoperative erectile dysfunction and postoperative urinary incontinence and developed a model for the prognosis of urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy.
Ville has also published information on changes in urination after laser surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
His scientific interest in improved diagnostic tools for patients suffering from overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) led to the invention of the long-acting urodynamic non-catheter measuring capsule (Wille capsule, wica). Wille’s patented invention was awarded the first lecture prize of the German Society of Urology.
In addition to research work, Ville contributes as an organizer of national and international meetings and as a member of the advisory boards of international medical companies.
Professor Ville is the author and co-author of more than 120 scientific papers and publications.
