My trip was wonderful, I’ve probably never had one like it. Whether I was so morally open that I went with the flow, there were no hitches anywhere.
The check-in was just amazing. We were greeted very warmly and kindly.

Mainly in Dr. Franklin Panchakarma rested Russians.
At the Franklin Clinic, everything is very simple, no frills. Perfectly normal accommodation, the first floor was very good in that it did not heat up.
We looked at the new building (across the road), we did not like it. The old building is somehow better – more soulful. But there we went to the pool.

It is a pity, of course, that there is no direct access to the sea. It’s a 10 minute walk to it. The beach is very dirty, just crap, and the sea was dirty. That is, all these moments, yes, they were, but … I tried to be above all this.

The clinic staff sometimes unpleasantly surprised me with their forgetfulness. In the process, they remembered something, but they could also forget to bring a suitcase, put wet wipes, and so on.
The waiters are, of course, cool. Took the order and left, may not come. Maybe he will return and bring the order, maybe he will not return, who has what kind of karma. Or no one at all for half an hour, and then another may come and take the same order.

I liked the Ayurvedic food. Of course, it is specific. The portions are small, but I think they are enough. True, some began to howl and go to Kovalam, but I was fine.
The procedures were done once a day. And of course yoga in the morning, with many varieties, but not very good, because there was a yoga master who taught individual classes for many years, and gave the group classes to another teacher and he somehow cheated. We went to yoga a couple of times – we didn’t like it.

There were complaints about this yoga master. But now the guys write that yoga has become better, apparently the complaints have worked.

Dr. Sony Joseph (aka Dr. Franklin’s son-in-law) is a good doctor, only he takes the first and last consultation, and that’s it. For absolutely all other issues, there are 2 doctors on duty, working in turn, for three days.

All attendants speak quite broken English and generally know 5 words each, i.e. people get a little lost because of this. But there is always one of the translators – Sunil.

The treatment, of course, was … but it did not give the full effect, because somehow it turned out to be not enough for me, although in general the treatment process is good. When the process started, I really liked everything. She returned to life and the stress was gone. After all, I specifically went to shoot it in recent years.

Last year I visited the Franklin Clinic. No one there treats anything. One treatment scheme is for everyone. I brought my medical records, they didn’t even look at them, and then they couldn’t even find them. The food is the same for everyone – a general menu, who wants, then orders. In general, just a pleasant spa holiday. And no more.

We came to Dr. Franklin’s clinic for the second time. Compared to the previous visit in December 2012, the hotel area has become larger and more beautiful – many trees, exotic plants. But there were many guests. There were several types of rooms in the center. We chose a small villa in the new area and it was good. The treatment was as effective as before. And Chowara is a great place – good people, ocean, Kovalam beach and Trivandrum very close, daily morning yoga, delicious healthy food. So we had a good rest and recovered!

WHAT IS AYURVEDA?

Ayurvedic treatment is a concept that originated in India over 3,000 years ago.  This therapy is based on the use of a complex of natural remedies for the treatment of diseases of various etiologies.

Ayurveda is “yus”, which is translated from Sanskrit as “the principle of life”, and “veda” as the knowledge.

Traditional Indian medicine is aimed at restoring the natural forces of the body from the physical and mental side. Ayurveda specialists individually select a therapy regimen for each patient. It may include yoga classes, a special diet, teas, herbal cosmetics, and more.

WHAT DISEASES IS IT POSSIBLE TO TREAT WITH AYURVEDA?

What diseases can Ayurveda help withAyurvedic treatment is used in the following medical areas:

  • neurology;
  • dermatology;
  • cardiovascular pathologies;
  • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • orthopedics.

Depending on the diagnosis and complaints of the patient, Indian doctors prescribe an individual treatment program. Ayurveda is suitable for patients undergoing rehabilitation after surgery and cancer therapy.

Ayurvedic sanatoriums are suitable for healing the whole family. For each person, in accordance with the age and the presence of chronic diseases, the optimal daily regimen with all procedures can be selected. The whole process takes place in the conditions of a resort holiday near the sea.

WHAT IS PARTICULAR ABOUT AYURVEDA IN INDIA?

In India, Ayurveda is considered a form of medical care equal to traditional Western, Chinese, and naturopathic medicine. Practitioners of Ayurveda in India undergo formal training recognized at the state level.

Currently, Ayurvedic practitioners are not licensed in the US and there is no national standard for such training or certification. However, Ayurveda schools have received approval as educational institutions in some states of America.

According to the Johns Hopkins Institute, Ayurveda can have a positive effect when used as a complementary therapy in combination with standard traditional medical care.

WHAT THE SCIENCE SAYS ABOUT AYURVEDA IN INDIA?

What science says about Ayurveda in IndiaAyurveda is one of the oldest medical systems in the world and is part of India’s traditional healthcare system. The ayurvedic treatment combines products mainly derived from plants and minerals but may also include animal products. Diet, exercise, and spiritual practices are aimed at changing lifestyle.

Designed clinical trials and a systematic review of studies show that Ayurvedic approaches are effective. A few examples from the official source of NCCIH (US Department of Health and Human Services):

  1. The results of a 2013 clinical study compared two formulations of Ayurvedic herbal extracts with the natural product glucosamine sulfate and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The trial was performed on 440 people with osteoarthritis of the knee. All four products provided the same reduction in pain and improvement in joint function.
  2. A 2011 study of 43 people found that traditional and Ayurvedic treatments for rheumatoid arthritis were equally effective. The test drug was a cytostatic drug from the antimetabolite group, and the Ayurvedic treatment included 40 plant compounds.
  3. The results of a small short-term clinical study in 89 men and women showed that a combination of five Ayurvedic herbs can help people with type 2 diabetes.
  4. Turmeric, an herb often used in Ayurvedic preparations, can help with ulcerative colitis. To do this, two studies were conducted: one published in 2005 included 10 people, and the other, which was conducted in 2006, included 89 people.

According to the NCCIH, about 240,000 American adults use Ayurveda in India every year.

WHAT DO PATIENTS SAY ABOUT AYURVEDIC CLINICS IN KERALA?

What patients say about Ayurvedic clinics in KeralaAyurvedic medicine attracts not only Indians. The colorful resorts of Kerala and the original philosophy of Ayurveda have many fans all over the world.

Most often, in their reviews, patients note an interesting approach to Indian medicine. Ayurvedic philosophy believes that the universe consists of five elements – earth, water, air, fire, and ether. Each person has their own individual composition of these elements, which is called doshas. Three doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha are responsible for the basic functions of the body, such as movement, digestion, and metabolism.

Patients who come to India for rehabilitation and wellness rethink the importance of balance between body, mind, and spirit. Ayurveda believes that health is achieved when all three aspects are in harmony with each other, and that disease occurs when this balance is disturbed.

To achieve and maintain health, Ayurveda suggests the use of various methods: individual diet, yoga, meditation, massage, aromatherapy, and herbal preparations. These methods are aimed at restoring the balance of the doshas and the overall well-being of the person.
