Diagnosis: Meningioma

My mother had sudden seizures. An examination ordered by a neurologist showed a brain tumor, presumably a meningeoma. We spent a lot of time looking for a doctor and chose Ugur Ture. During the examination, the initial diagnosis of meningioma of the left temporal lobe was confirmed. Dr. Ugur Ture and his team successfully removed the tumor without negative consequences. For this, we are eternally grateful to all the staff of the hospital and to our doctor in charge, and to the nurses who worked with us: Delara, Selma and others.

Diagnosis: Brain tumor

My daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2012, although the symptoms appeared much earlier. The diagnosis could have been made 2 years earlier if our doctors had the necessary equipment. First they diagnosed vascular dystonia, then migraines. It was treated with tablets. The tumor was operated on in Assuta. Now my daughter comes twice a year for routine check-ups. Back in 2012, we were immediately warned that even after the operation, a relapse is possible, but so far everything is okay. Of course, it would be possible to be examined at home, but now there is no trust in doctors. It’s easier to go to Israel and live in peace for the next six months.

Diagnosis: Brain tumor

When I was diagnosed with brain cancer, our Ukrainian Center for Neurosurgery could only offer surgical treatment. For me, the operation seemed like a disaster, so I began to look for other options and, as it turned out, not in vain. Professor Zvi Ram from the Assuta clinic chose a gentle treatment for me, which gave good results.

Diagnosis: Removal of meningioma in the left temporoparietal part

Five years ago, from Kazakhstan, I came to the Sheba clinic to have an operation for a tumor in the brain by the neurosurgeon Z. Kohen. Prior to that, I experienced 3 operations in Alma-Ata, so I did not expect anything good.

I was surprised at how quickly the examination went. We were taken directly from the plane to the hospital and had all the tests, MRI, and other examinations done in 1 day. The operation lasted 11 hours. Another day they let me lie down calmly, recover my senses, and then the doctor began to demand to get up, move more, rinse with water, including pouring water on my head. On the 6th day, he was discharged from the hospital. A month after the course of laser therapy, I calmly went home on my own legs and felt as good as before the illness.

All this was surprising to me, since in Kazakhstan the time after the operation is very painful. You can’t get up, you depend on people who help you do everything, you can’t wash, you can’t wet your head with bandages.

Now if I tell about my illness and treatment in Sheba, for many it is like a fairy tale. I am in follow-up by the cardiologist. Every time they read with interest the detailed extract that I brought with me from Israel, which describes the operation and treatment in detail. I do an MRI every six months and every time I thank the doctors from Sheba for the fact that now I am a healthy person. I live a normal life and have the opportunity to raise my children myself. And the most important person for me who made me healthy is Dr. Cohen.

Diagnosis: Brain tumor

Svetlana’s story is about how it is now possible to manage brain cancer treatment without complicated operations. Svetlana herself is from Ukraine. She underwent therapy at the Top Assuta Medical Center. The sparing treatment that Dr. Zvi Rama picked up made it possible to go into remission and do without surgical intervention on the brain. Listen how Svetlana describes her experience.

Diagnosis: Brain tumor

Evgeniy talks about his successful experience. It turned out that organizing a trip to Israel is not difficult, and the examination and treatment do not take much time and gives consistently excellent results.

Diagnosis: Brain tumor

There was a small problem with the transfer. But in general, I am satisfied with the examination, the level of service in the hospital, the treatment and its results. I had the best impressions of the attending physician, who proved himself to be a competent specialist, and the rest of the staff, who were very friendly. After the operation, she was discharged from the hospital on the 5th day. I am undergoing rehabilitation in Russia.

Diagnosis: brain tumor

Very professional service. Experts Medical is an excellent team. They selected a clinic for brain tumor treatment. The operation was performed by a good doctor. I feel better.

Brain tumor removal surgery

Removal of a neoplasm is the best way to deal with benign and malignant tumors. Whenever possible, neurosurgeons choose minimally invasive surgery options.

Transnasal endoscopic surgery

With some tumors (for example, pituitary adenoma), removal through the nasal cavity is possible, without making holes in the skull. This method is the most gentle for the patient: after the operation, there are no side effects that are possible with craniotomy.

Awake craniotomy method

When performing open brain surgery, neurosurgeons increasingly use an innovative technique, in which the patient is conscious. This is necessary so that the doctor can track the results of his intervention and make sure that important brain centers (speech, movement, etc) are not damaged during the removal of the tumor.

Innovative surgical technologies

Robot Da Vinci: surgeryFor more gentle removal of the tumor and reduction of blood loss, neurosurgeons use an ultrasonic aspirator, electric tweezers Bipolar Forceps.

It is possible to use the Da Vinci robotic surgical unit: it is able to operate with an accuracy that is not available to a human surgeon. In leading clinics (for example, the Turkish Acibadem clinic), there is a laboratory right in the operating room that immediately determines the histology of the tumor and makes a preliminary diagnosis.

There is also an MRI unit in the operating room, thanks to which neurosurgeons monitor whether the tumor is completely removed during the operation.

Non-surgical techniques

They can be used both in combination with surgery and independently, if for some reason the operation is contraindicated.

Stereotactic radiosurgery

Effective for killing small tumors. A beam of high-energy rays affects tumor cells from different angles. The radiation level of the beam is so high that it is able to destroy the tumor in one or two sessions. The accuracy of tissue damage is 1 mm.

Radiation therapy

Innovative equipment allows for reducing the number of sessions and the duration of the course without losing the effectiveness of treatment. Thus, the patient receives a smaller dose of radiation.

Some types of tumors (for example, medulloblastoma, lymphoma) respond well to chemotherapy drugs, in other cases this method is combined with surgery.

Cost of brain cancer treatment

The price largely depends on the type of tumor, stage, and chosen treatment tactics. However, it should be borne in mind that different countries have different pricing policies. Thus, an operation to remove brain cancer in Germany will cost from $35,000, in Israel from $30,000, in Turkey – from $10,000. The exact amount for treatment becomes clear after the patient is diagnosed, and doctors can see the full picture of the disease. But already at the first stage of communication with the coordinating doctor of Experts Medical, the patient will find out the approximate cost.
