After the initial consultation, a doctor-coordinator reviews your medical situation, wishes, documents, budget and health limitations. They then select from the verified Experts Medical database the doctors whose profile, experience and approach best match your specific case. In complex situations, the recommendation is discussed at an internal council of doctor-coordinators to choose the doctor who can achieve the best result.
How we choose a doctor
1. A doctor specialized in your specific case
We don’t just look for “a good doctor” but for a specialist with experience in your particular area. For treatment, this may be a specific disease, a therapy method, a type of surgery or a rare condition. For plastic surgery, it is a specific procedure: facelift, rhinoplasty, breast surgery, liposuction or a combined operation.
2. Experience with similar cases
The doctor-coordinator considers not only length of practice and credentials but also the doctor’s practical experience with similar cases: how many such patients they treat and how regularly they work in this field. We also take into account the doctor’s internal rating at Experts Medical — our assessment of their work based on our previous patients’ cases: medical reasoning, quality of communication, support and our experience of working with this specialist.
3. Clinic capabilities
We assess whether the clinic is suited to the specific case: equipment, operating rooms, diagnostics, the possibility of completing treatment in one place, an international department, interpreting and patient support. For cancer patients, it is especially important whether the clinic can provide the full cycle of medical care: diagnostics, surgical treatment, drug therapy and radiotherapy, tumor boards and follow-up.
4. Country and healthcare system

In some cases, a high surgical volume and doctors’ practical experience matter more; in others, in-depth diagnostics, work with complex pathologies, international councils or access to certain treatment methods. That is why the doctor-coordinator selects not only the doctor but also the healthcare system that fits the patient’s needs.
5. Budget and service format
Experts Medical has verified doctors across different budgets — from a more basic to a premium level. A difference in price does not always mean a difference in the doctor’s quality: the cost can be affected by the level of the clinic, the patient room and the hotel, the doctor’s reputation, the clinic’s brand and additional services. We explain to the patient what they are paying for in each option.
6. The patient’s expectations and personal preferences
For us, not only the medical criteria matter but also the human fit. A patient may care about the number of reviews, the doctor’s visual results, European certification, a female or male doctor, a certain communication style, a high level of support, or a specific country or clinic.
In plastic surgery, the doctor’s aesthetic signature is considered separately: a natural or more pronounced result, the style of their before-and-after work, the availability of 3D visualization, the approach to safety, the revision policy and the doctor’s willingness to support the patient after surgery.
If several doctors are suitable for the patient, the coordinator explains the differences between them: how their experience, clinic, cost, terms, service, approach and expected treatment journey differ. This way, you get not just a list of doctors but a well-reasoned recommendation for your situation.
