Oncologists in Turkey

I came here in the spring of 2022 with a diagnosis of stage 4 adenocarcinoma. The organization of the treatment process was handled by the head of the International Department, Lala. The organization was at the highest level. I was admitted to the hospital immediately and started treatment without delay, as the malignant process was progressing. I received modern diagnostics, treatment - chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The disease receded. A PET CT scan 7 months after treatment showed a complete absence of tumor activity. Modern medical and diagnostic equipment, quality medicines, professionalism - this is about Istanbul University Hastanesi Liv Hospital in Istanbul. Special thanks to oncologist Tahsin (Uzm. Dr. Tahsin Özatlı), radiologist Taylan (Uzm. Dr. Taylan Bükülmez) and his staff Irmak and Melisa. Also, special thanks to Imran Fiyruzoğlu, an employee of the clinic's International Department, guide and translator, a graduate of Kharkiv Medical University. My mother was treated at your hospital. We were very pleased with our chemotherapy doctor, Tahsin, and our nurses, Deniz and Sevim, who conducted our treatment. We are very grateful to all of them.

After my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, we met our doctor, Erkan. My mother’s condition had advanced due to it being hidden from us, and she had a large external wound on her chest wall. Dr. Erkan quickly devised a treatment plan, emphasizing that we couldn’t lose a single day, and immediately started her on medication. His goal was to shrink the wound to chest wall level and prepare her for surgery. He arranged all the necessary tests: PET scan, brain MRI, contrast biopsy, and blood tests.

We started treatment with 4 courses of chemotherapy and targeted therapy. The results were incredible: the wound visibly reduced with each course and eventually disappeared. Seeing such positive progress, the doctor added two more courses and applied to the Ministry of Health for drug approval. Today, my mother completed her sixth chemotherapy session, and follow-up PET and brain MRI scans showed no metastases. The external wound on the chest wall is gone, and the internal part has significantly reduced. We are now ready for surgery, and after that, we will continue treatment with Dr. Erkan.

Dr. Erkan has been the greatest blessing for us during this journey. His positive attitude, detailed explanations, and excellent communication with both the patient and the family have been invaluable. Words cannot express our gratitude. He works with an outstanding team of chemotherapy specialists and assistants whose positive approach fills us with trust and hope.

Dr. Erkan, may God protect you and guide you on your professional path. We wish you success and look forward to meeting again in better days.

We have been walking this journey together for about 13 months, treating my father’s stage 4 lung cancer with metastases, and thanks to our dear Dr. Erkan, we achieved amazing results. In May 2019, when I was first diagnosed, I was in shock. I had heard about people with similar illnesses, but experiencing it yourself is a completely different feeling. When Dr. Erkan examined me, my fears up to that moment seemed to vanish. He spoke so encouragingly that I felt almost cured even before starting the treatment. At a time when I thought my life was coming to an end, I suddenly felt that I still had many years ahead.

He was incredibly attentive, carefully addressing every detail of my condition. He explained the treatment process in great detail, and when I started therapy, I knew exactly what to expect at each stage. In just six months, he completely cured me. The correct diagnosis, effective treatment methods, and, most importantly, his immense moral support were the keys to my recovery.

Even after my treatment was completed, we became almost like brothers. If I missed follow-ups, he would always remind me and stand by me. I am forever grateful to my doctor and friend, Erkan Kayıkçıoğlu, for saving my life and for the time he gave me. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me.

My mother has cancer and she is this doctor's patient now she is almost okay just today did her 13th chemotherapy session. I have found him really talented doctor as I saw the result in recovery of my mother from cancer and more important for me is his attitude he behave like that his patients are his family member always he sees us while visiting he welcome with a nice smile and today his assistant wasn't present he personally accompanied us to the room that the nurses administered the drug. Our journey with this wonderful, attentive and kind doctor began at the Çapa Faculty of Medicine and continued at the Tansan Oncology Center. My wife, unfortunately, had stomach cancer at the last stage. Sadly, she could not be saved, but thanks to our doctor this difficult period passed with as much dignity as possible. In October 2015 I was hospitalized at the Çapa Faculty of Medicine with a diagnosis of "liver cancer." After a year of anticancer treatment I was ready for transplantation, but at Çapa they kept delaying the operation because the risk of a fatal outcome was high. This continued until we found our Koray hodja. Koray hodja told me: "Since you are a complex case, no one will easily take on your transplant. We take the risk," — and gave me the green light. My donor was also ready, and as a result of a long (13.5-hour) operation, after which our hodja told my relatives, "This is the first time I have performed such a transplant," on November 22, 2016 I returned to life. I was discharged after 8 days in intensive care and 29 days in the ward. Follow-up continues. I am endlessly grateful to our hodja Koray bey and the entire transplantation department team.

I underwent a liver transplant at Memorial Şişli Hospital on October 10, 2012. May Allah be pleased with you all. Now I am very healthy, my liver is in excellent condition. Later a problem arose with my spleen — it was also removed. Apparently this is how Allah wrote it in my fate — I stayed in the hospital longer than anyone. Everyone was discharged on day 7, and I exactly on day 40. I caused the nurses and orderlies many difficult moments — I ask everyone for forgiveness. Great thanks to everyone, to the entire organ transplantation team, above all to Professor Dr. Münci Kalayoğlu, Professor Dr. Koray Acarli, associate professor Dr. Turan Kanmaz who was constantly by our side, operator Dr. Yücel Yankol, operator Dr. Nesimi Mecit. To my doctors, to the blood bank staff who sent blood when I needed it, to the general intensive care staff who fulfilled all my requests, to the angels of the hospital — our nurses and orderlies who came running for our every need, to the cafeteria and café staff who never left me without food, and to the security guards who ensured our peace — thank you.

In 2009 I was diagnosed and treated at many hospitals. The doctors at these hospitals said that I would not survive a transplant. The last time I lay in the hospital for 40 days, and my condition worsened even more. Then, after meeting Münci hodja and Koray hodja, I gained hope that I would recover. Based on the results of our hodjas’ examinations they said a transplant was possible, and on February 23, 2012 a transplant was performed from my twin. Now I have returned to health and am very happy. I am doing well, praise Allah. Enormous gratitude to the doctors who performed the operation — above all to the esteemed Professor Dr. Münci Kalayoğlu and the esteemed Professor Dr. Koray Acarli, the entire organ transplantation team, the coordinators Nilgün hanım and Altan bey, the nurses on the 7th floor of building B, and all the staff — for their attention and professional attitude toward their work.

Many doctors had decided to remove my breast due to the tumors, but, contrary to their diagnoses, your words gave me new hope. The professor performed a very difficult and demanding operation flawlessly — "like poetry." At every follow-up visit, he showed immense attention, explained everything in detail, and left no question unanswered. Thank you, Professor.

In my relationship with the doctor, his expertise, knowledge, communication, and the confidence he inspired were very important to me. Vahit Bey fully met my expectations. The professor's success in treating breast cancer and his patients is always the talk of the hospital. At the hospital where I work, I encounter women almost every day in different areas asking where to find this doctor. In addition to his medical work, he has built two public educational institutions — an elementary and a middle school — in his hometown of Muş, using his own funds. I really liked our doctor Umut Demirci and Dr. Kaan, as well as the nurses who administered the chemotherapy. The staff is also very attentive. The level of cleanliness is very good. Had an operation not too long ago to remove a cyst. I was examined by Prof. Dr. Serkan Deveci and he identified the cyst and I got an operation to remove it the week after by him. This doctor turned out to be a real find for me after I learned my diagnosis - polycystic kidney disease of both kidneys. I was prescribed a detailed treatment plan, and after that I attended follow-up visits, during which the specialist adjusted and advised the prescribed procedures and medications. There is already a noticeable relief of symptoms.
