For example, a standard course is carried out for 6 weeks, the procedure with the Trilogy system lasts 1 week. A smaller number of sessions is associated with the ability of the device to deliver a large dose of radiation while the results of treatment are effective.
Cyber knife. The stereotactic radiosurgery system is designed for non-surgical treatment of tumors using powerful doses of radiation. It consists of a table and a linear accelerator (used together with TrueBeam STx). The linear accelerator rotates around the patient, directing radioactive rays at different angles: up to 1,200 directions. The duration of the session is 10-20 minutes. The advantages of the system include a sparing technique with a minimum of side effects and the possibility of treating inoperable tumors. The procedure is often performed on an outpatient basis.

When treating the tumors of the bronchi, esophagus, rectum, cervix, prostate, and other internal organs, Neolife Medical Center successfully uses external radiation therapy, which is called brachytherapy.

The essence of the technology is that the radiation source is brought as close as possible to the tumor. This makes it possible to increase the dose, aiming it at the tumor. Healthy cells do not suffer. The use of brachytherapy allows not to remove the affected organ. Also, this method is used to reduce the number of radiation therapy sessions – a maximum of 5 sessions.

What types of bone marrow transplantations are performed at Neolife Hospital?

Neolife Medical Center performs all types of bone marrow transplantation (BMT):

Autologous transplantation. The donor can be the patient himself. Stem cell collection followed by freezing is carried out during remission or in the absence of metastases. It is important that the patient’s bone marrow is not damaged. After chemotherapy or radiation therapy, stem cells are injected back into the human body. Autologous transplantation is performed for multiple myeloma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Ewing’s sarcoma, neuroblastoma, and acute myeloid leukemia.
Allogeneic transplantation. There are 2 types:

from a related donor: this may be the closest relative of the patient. First of all, the stem cells of the patient’s brother or sister are examined. The most successful transplantations are from a twin. They are called syngeneic;
from an unrelated donor: if the bone marrow of close family members is not suitable or there are no siblings, a donor is selected from the database. The blood proteins of an unrelated donor should have the maximum similarity with the patient’s blood proteins in structure.

Allogeneic transplantation is performed for acute and chronic leukemia, aplastic anemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and congenital immunodeficiencies in children.

Neolife Medical Center is in the international database of donors. This allows to quickly select the right donor and perform transplantation. For the selection of donors, biological identification and HLA typing are available in the center.

The TCM procedure is carried out according to the international protocol. The department is equipped with special boxes with a ventilated system, where patients are transferred after BMT.

What are the features of prostate cancer treatment in Neolife?

Cryoablation All pathologies of the prostate gland in Neolife are treated using modern surgical methods and innovative drugs. Surgeons prioritize sparing organ-preserving surgeries and high-precision radiation therapy.

Prostatectomy on the Da Vinci robotic apparatus. The doctor performs a highly precise, minimally invasive procedure through 5 small punctures up to 2 cm in size.
Cryoablation. When doing this procedure, the doctor freezes the tumor with liquid nitrogen. The procedure is performed using thin cryo-needles. They deliver argon to pathological tissues. As a result of the procedure, malignant cells stop dividing and die. This technology allows to save the body, if you start treatment at an early stage.
Laser ablation is a minimally invasive treatment using laser exposure.
Radiotherapy is carried out using the latest linear accelerators. They allow to irradiate the tumor with an accuracy of 0.5 mm while maintaining healthy cells, which is especially important for urinary and sexual functions.
Brachytherapy. The doctor injects radioactive granules into the prostate gland, which precisely irradiate damaged cells.

The most popular procedure in the hospital is transurethral resection (TUR) of the prostate. This is a low-traumatic endoscopic procedure, during which the doctor inserts a resectoscope into the bladder through the urethra, after which the tumor is removed with a special loop on the device. Simultaneously with the tumor, the doctor cuts off part of the healthy mucous membrane and muscle tissue at a distance of up to 1 cm.

TUR of the prostate gland is carried out with the aim of:

removal of neoplasm;
obtaining a sample of tumor tissue for further histological examination. Based on this information, doctors determine the degree of cancer malignancy and prescribe an individual treatment regimen.
