Stomach cancer (carcinoma) is characterized by uncontrolled cell division, which leads to the formation of a malignant neoplasm. If glandular cells (responsible for producing gastric secretions) are involved, stomach cancer is diagnosed. Less commonly, connective or muscle tissue cells (sarcoma) or lymphatic system cells (MALT lymphoma) are affected. Stomach cancer treatment is only provided in a specialized oncology center. In cases of early tumor detection, it is removed using the "keyhole" method directly during gastroscopy: this method is widely used when the tumor is localized in the gastric mucosa. A tumor that has extended beyond the mucosa requires mandatory surgical removal (resection or complete gastrectomy). Large polyps, in the presence of certain concomitant factors (genetic characteristics of the body, excess weight, unbalanced diet with an excess of meat dishes and a lack of ballast substances), can degenerate into a malignant tumor that forms metastases in various parts of the body.Symptoms of Colon Cancer
Typical symptoms of a "matured" tumor include the presence of blood and mucus in the stool, impaired peristalsis, flatulence, intestinal pain and cramps, anemia caused by blood loss, weakness, fatigue, and weight loss. All of these, however, are signs of advanced carcinoma. In the early stage, the disease is usually asymptomatic, which is its particular insidiousness.Colon Cancer Surgery in Germany
For treatment in particularly complex cases, colectomy is prescribed – complete removal of the large intestine. This is supplemented by reconstructive surgeries of the reduced section. Usually, in such cases, an anastomosis (connection) of the terminal segment of the small intestine to the anus is required. However, in most cases, the subtlety and precision of modern surgical techniques do not necessitate the implantation of artificial intestinal zones.In Germany, particularly precise, minimally invasive operations are used. They are performed using special probes, microscopes, and microsurgical instruments. This does not require opening the abdominal cavity. Examples: transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) or total mesorectal excision (TME).
Surgical techniques are supplemented, if necessary, by pre- or post-operative chemotherapy, radiation sessions, courses of drug therapy (prescription of cytostatic drugs). In the subsequent period, regular follow-ups with specialists are important to prevent disease recurrence.
