Vision correction with laser procedures and the installation of intraocular lenses in EuroEyes is a safe one-day surgery under drip anesthesia. The clinic accepts patients from 18 years of age, including those from different countries.
Advantages of Vision Correction at EuroEyes in Hamburg

Vision Correction in EuroEyes
Ophthalmologists use the following methods of laser microsurgery of the cornea:
- Femto-LASIK - LASIK using a femtosecond laser;
- ReLEx SMILE - an improved version of Femto-LASIK;
- No-Touch-Trans-PRK – a hybrid procedure based on PRK and LASEK techniques.
When performing Femto-LASIK, the surgeon scans the eye using a high-tech Idesign device and obtains a 3D cornea image. Wavefront Analysis technology allows the simulation of the radiation of a femtosecond laser in accordance with each patient's cornea's characteristics.
Doctors use the No-Touch-Trans-PRK technique in patients with femto-LASIK contraindication (for example, due to a very thin cornea).
To select the most appropriate technique, ophthalmologists conduct a high-tech examination.
Innovative Myopia Correction ReLEx SMILE in EuroEyes
In most patients with myopia from 18 to 45 years old, ophthalmologists perform the ReLEx SMILE procedure, which has several advantages:
- duration is only 32 seconds per eye;
- the incision is 2 mm (with Femto-LASIK, it is 20 mm), and there is no corneal flap;
- it is suitable for patients with dry eyes and thin corneas;
- it can be used for myopia up to 10 diopters (with Femto-LASIK up to 8 diopters);
- it is used for astigmatism;
- it protects the corneal nerves and prevents dry eyes.
This is the gentlest and safest vision correction procedure using a femtosecond laser.
Vision Correction with Intraocular Lens Implantation
EuroEyes ophthalmologists implant two types of intraocular lenses:
- Implantable contact lenses, or phakic lenses, function like standard contact lenses but are "put on" on the lens inside the eye. ICLs are implanted through a 1.6 mm micro-incision and can remain in the eye for life. They can be removed or replaced if necessary.
- Monofocal/multifocal lenses. They are implanted instead of removed lenses to treat cataracts or installed to correct severe hyperopia or myopia.
In EuroEyes, the latest generation ICL and multifocal lenses are implanted using the most advanced LenSx femtosecond laser technology.
Laser Cataract and Keratoconus Surgery in Hamburg
The clinic has accumulated a unique 30-year experience in cataract surgery. Within 15 minutes, the surgeon removes the cataract lens and implants a multifocal lens. Cataract surgery with a simple mono-focal lens costs €2,700 per eye, and with a multifocal one, from €3,300 per eye.
With keratoconus, ophthalmologists implant Keraring corneal rings using a femtosecond laser. Vision improves within a few days and stabilizes within 3-6 months. According to the clinic, with the timely treatment of keratoconus with the Keraring implant, it is possible to stop the progression of the disease in 95% of cases.

I don’t know whether this is the best clinic in Germany in terms of other eye diseases (glaucoma, etc.), but they can restore the eyesight very successfully! I came back a week ago from Berlin, where I carried out a laser correction using the ReLExsmile method. It should be mentioned that they don’t touch the cornea with a knife. Therefore, to be sure of the result, I chose this clinic and did not regret it. It is, of course, more expensive (especially considering the flight), but eye health is important!

What innovative technologies are available at EuroEyes?
This clinic uses eeLASIK technology: the hybrid option includes two laser techniques – Femto-LASIK and Wavefront Analysis. With the help of wavefront analysis, the doctor detects the irregularities of the cornea and gets a map of these individual features (it’s like a “fingerprint” but for the eyes). The information in the map helps to adjust the femtosecond laser to the cornea of a particular patient. This makes it possible to correct the shape of the cornea with greater accuracy and improves the result of vision correction.
What does EuroEyes offer for the treatment of astigmatism?
In most cases, treatment of astigmatism at EuroEyes is carried out using laser procedures:
- up to 3 diopters – use PRK or LASEK;
- up to 4 diopters – perform Femto-LASIK or eeLASIK;
- up to 5 diopters – perform ReLEx SMILE.
Patients with a high degree of astigmatism are offered the following:
- up to 6 diopters at the age of 40-45 – installation of toric ICL;
- up to 12 diopters aged 45 and older – toric artificial multifocal lens implantation.
For astigmatism caused by keratoconus or corneal transplantation, EuroEyes offers the Keraring treatment procedure – implantation of corneal rings.
How long is a trip for laser vision correction at EuroEyes?
Laser procedures at EuroEyes are one-day surgery. Before and after the operation, the patient is examined. Therefore, an international patient should spend 4-6 days in Germany.
The vision correction program for foreign patients at EuroEyes is as follows:
- 1 day – appointment with an ophthalmologist (about 2 hours). During the examination, drops are used to dilate the pupils to examine the fundus. The doctor finally determines the most suitable laser vision correction method.
- Day 2 – procedure and rest after it (2 hours);
- Day 3 – postoperative examination (30 minutes). If ReLEx SMILE is performed, the patient can go home after the examination.
- Day 4 – the first postoperative examination (30 minutes).
- Day 6 – the second postoperative examination, after which the patient returns home.
The patient can plan his stay in Germany according to this program.
What are the contraindications to the ReLEx SMILE procedure?
The absolute contraindications of ReLEx SMILE include:
- unstable refraction within 12 months;
- age younger than 18 years;
- visually significant cataract;
- uncontrolled glaucoma;
- farsightedness (research is currently underway).
Relative contraindications to ReLEx SMILE are as follows:
- Certain diseases in the anamnesis – ophthalmic herpes and uncontrolled diabetes, which cause changes in the cornea;
- Chronic systemic autoimmune diseases – rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease with arthritis, Behcet’s disease;
- Abnormal tear film in dry eye syndrome;
- AIDS, HIV, and eye complications are the background of these diseases.
An alternative to ReLEx SMILE is eeLASIK and other laser correction methods. The doctor decides which method will be used for vision correction in a particular patient at the first appointment after the examination and examination.

What are the advantages of femtosecond laser procedures?
Using a femtosecond laser makes interventions more precise, fast, safe, and gentle on the eye. EuroEyes uses two types of femtosecond lasers of the latest generation: VisuMax® from CarlZeiss and iFS 150 from Abbott Medical Optics.
They are used in Femto-LASIK and ReLEx SMILE procedures. When performing the latter, the ophthalmologist uses a femtosecond laser to change the cornea through a microincision. It is 80% shorter than in procedures using a microkeratome (special scalpel) or an excimer laser.
