Diagnosis: Inpatient treatment

My experience at the hospital was good, because from the very first day there was a special person who helped us in all aspects — starting from the visa process and up to the end of treatment, she accompanied us. Her name is Sera Valenti, and I want to thank her. Our assigned interpreter (Samir) was also sincere and kind — thanks to this I recommend the hospital for treatment.

I was truly impressed by the level of experience and expertise of all the staff at Liv Hospital. From top to bottom they gave me what I was looking for. Mia Delgado Valdori was my international patient coordinator, who provided HUGE help in organizing all my appointments. I could communicate with Mia via WhatsApp, and she answered my questions within minutes. Samir was with me, translating for the doctors and medical staff. He coordinated my transfer from the airport to the hotel and back. As well as the shuttle service from the hotel to the hospital. Usually, if you go to a doctor for 1 issue, you spend quite a few hours there. However, in my case I saw 7 doctors and finished by 3 or 4 o’clock. I was impressed by the speed with which we moved from doctor to doctor. I definitely recommend Liv Hospital to anyone seeking help in any area of their life.

Special thanks to my interpreter Saleh Hreib — he was incredibly responsive, patient and made sure I understood every step of the process. His support made everything much easier and more comfortable.

Although I came for a hair transplant, I also took the opportunity to undergo a full body check-up, and was impressed by how thorough and efficient it was.

Diagnosis: Check-up examination

TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF LIV HOSPITAL ULUS,

During my visit to Istanbul, my mother and I had the opportunity to undergo a check-up at Liv Hospital Ulus.

On my own behalf and on behalf of my family, I would like to express sincere gratitude for the excellent quality of service, professionalism and hospitality you demonstrated.

The hospital’s modern infrastructure, excellent organizational structure and institutional discipline in the field of healthcare impressed us from the very start. However, what pleased us most throughout this entire process was the sincerity, care and genuine, human approach of everyone — from your doctors to your staff.

Special thanks to the interpreter, Ms. Elmira Kalkan, who was with us at every stage of our process. Ms. Kalkan served as a bridge not only in language and translation, but also in the most delicate aspects of patient-doctor communication, guiding us with extraordinary care and kindness.

Her communication skills, empathy and professionalism ensured that our treatment process went both smoothly and calmly. Sharing the same environment with such qualified and dedicated staff was a source of true satisfaction for us.

I also express gratitude to your esteemed doctors — Professor Binnur Şimşek and Professor Hakan Yanar, operating doctor Sibel Malkoç, who carefully guided our process and instilled confidence in us. The knowledge, patient-oriented approach and compassion of both doctors are the best indicators of Liv Hospital’s vision of excellence in healthcare.

Although we have had various treatment experiences at different medical institutions in Turkey, the quality, systemic excellence and people-oriented service we encountered at Liv Hospital Ulus are on a completely different level. The trust, comfort and human value we felt here further strengthened our respect for your country’s healthcare system.

Therefore, I would like to thank, first of all, our doctors — Professor Binnur Şimşek and Professor Hakan Yanar, operating doctor Sibel Malkoç, and our interpreter Ms. Elmira Kalkan for their unwavering support, as well as the entire Liv Hospital Ulus team. I wish your institution continued success.

Respectfully,

On behalf of Bahrom Sadikov and my family.

Diagnosis: Outpatient appointment

You can’t make an appointment, and as soon as you get to the hospital, they charge you about €200 for the doctor’s appointment, and you have to do a blood test for about €400 before the doctor will see you. They provided an interpreter who is very attentive, listens well and explains in detail.

The prices were excessively inflated compared to the USA, which is why they are a private commercial hospital.

Diagnosis: Radiotherapy

My father and I spent about 6 weeks in Istanbul for radiotherapy for him in the oncology department.

The experience was quite interesting. The employee who was in contact with our family, Mohammed, was excellent. He was very helpful with accommodation, and especially with obtaining our visa, since Voya Visa in Nigeria spent a whole month after our visas were approved without contacting us. He was able to reach a Turkish employee there who was helpful. I am grateful for this. The transfer from the airport to the accommodation was good, and the same goes for the transfers to and from the hospital. The drivers were different, most of them very friendly; unfortunately I don’t know their names, but I appreciate them. However, there were 2 in particular who were rude on several occasions, one of which hurt deeply. He refused to let my father sit in the front (it’s free seating, and sitting in the back makes my father nauseous, to the point of vomiting, which happened several times) — this angered me deeply, and I reported it, hoping something will be done about it for future patients.

Apart from this, the head doctor, Dr. Fayda, was professional and open to all questions. He could have been a little warmer.

However, his secretary is rude. Not responsive, only to interpreters, and not because of a language barrier.

There were other secretaries in other departments who shared the same strange attitude. This should be checked by the hospital. This is an international hospital, so there will be international patients. It doubles the work — to do the job and make people feel a little more at ease. Please pay attention, as this can greatly affect recommendations and ratings.

The hospital itself is clean, looks good, has a food point, many water points, medicine delivery from the pharmacy to the hospital and an ATM at the back.

The negative part is done. 🙂

I would like to use this platform to thank the two ladies who received my father for his sessions. He felt very loved and cared for. We thank you.

I would like to thank Mohammed once again for his help and for introducing me to Arrayan and Aynel, who showed me a bit of Istanbul in their free time. I appreciate you.

I would like to thank and appreciate Ugur, who left Liv hospital but took wonderful care of my father and made him feel at ease (he was the first person we met).

I would like to thank Alex, who made sure everything went smoothly: transfers, getting medicines, payments, sessions.

And last but definitely not least — I am grateful to Salih. He is a hardworking and warm interpreter who went above and beyond for us to make everything easy. His communication was very clear and detailed. He explained the steps in detail and made sure our needs were met. We are very grateful.

This is a good hospital with hardworking staff trying to make everything easier for patients. I would recommend it. And if you are going to come here, I wish you and your loved ones a full recovery. <3

My wife and I came from Los Angeles, California, to Istanbul specifically for a full check-up at Liv Hospital Ulus, and were truly impressed by the outstanding quality of service and medical care.

From the moment we entered the facility, everything exceeded our expectations — from the hotel-level modern setting to the professionalism of all the staff. We underwent a comprehensive health screening that included extensive blood tests, ultrasound of the abdomen, pelvis, thyroid and breast, as well as ECG, chest X-ray and consultations with a nutritionist, cardiologist and internal medicine doctor. The process was smooth, well organized and incredibly efficient.

In addition to the regular check-up, I requested an examination by an ENT specialist, Dr. Elçin Aritürk, since I have struggled all my life with breathing problems due to a deviated nasal septum. After a detailed examination, the doctor confirmed the need for surgery. Since this type of procedure is not covered by my insurance in Los Angeles and costs about $16 thousand there, I decided to have the surgery here at Liv Hospital.

The cost here was only $4 thousand, which also included one night’s stay. Today is the seventh day after the operation, and the silicone tubes have just been removed from my nose — it has truly been life-changing. For the first time in my life I can breathe freely through my nose. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Aritürk for her incredible care, expertise and compassion. Her approach was phenomenal and absolutely professional.

The hospital itself is world-class — far higher in quality than most medical centers we have encountered in California. The rooms, service and medical technology are all top level. The value for money is unmatched, and in fact the quality far exceeds the price. We are extremely satisfied with our experience.

We also want to express special gratitude to our interpreter and coordinator, Tatyana Kulak, who was by our side throughout the entire process. She translated everything from Turkish into Russian, provided constant support and ensured that we felt comfortable and cared for at every step. Her help was invaluable and added a personal touch that made the whole experience even more seamless.

After researching and calling five different hospitals, we chose Liv Hospital because of its fair prices and excellent reputation, and could not be happier with our decision. This will now become an annual tradition for us, and we will definitely return for our annual check-ups.

Highly recommend to anyone considering high-quality medical care abroad. Liv Hospital Ulus offers professionalism, hospitality and value at the highest level.

My interpreter Arzu was absolutely incredible. A real treasure — she made the whole experience much better. She translated everything for me perfectly, calmed my mind and was very kind. The hospital itself is very clean, and the doctors are very good. HOWEVER, if it weren’t for my interpreter, I would definitely have given them the worst review. If you take a package, every doctor will try to sell you something extra. It seems like half their job is to make you spend more money. The first doctor told me to do hormone tests and go to an endocrinologist (after they asked me all sorts of questions about my cycle, etc.), only to find out later that the testing was useless because it wasn’t done at the right point in my cycle, and the endocrinologist said she couldn’t give me any information and I needed to go back to the States and redo the tests and see a specialist endocrinologist there, or stay in Istanbul until my next cycle (lol). Finally, after I complained A LOT, they refunded me for the hormone testing, but did not refund the endocrinologist. The pulmonologist and cardiologist also tried to make me do more than $1000 worth of tests, even though all my tests were normal. My advice, if you take packages — stick ONLY to what’s in the package, unless you absolutely have to do something else. Otherwise they will just keep making what you spend there go higher and higher, making you nervous about things you shouldn’t be nervous about. Even better — wait until the end of your hospital visit, when you meet with the doctor and go through all the results carefully before deciding whether to do more tests.

Diagnosis: PET-CT scan

I had an excellent experience at Liv Hospital Ulus. I came to Istanbul from abroad to undergo a PET-CT scan there. Everything was exceptionally well organized!

First I had a conversation via WhatsApp with a Russian-speaking coordinator, where we discussed the preferred date of my visit, the procedure and prices. I was also asked to specify the exact date and time of my flight, as well as the address of the hotel where I planned to stay, in order to arrange the transfer.

Then I was introduced to a wonderful Russian-speaking interpreter, Katerina, who helped us at every step and was always ready to help.

A transfer was arranged from the airport to the hotel, from the hotel to the hospital and back the next day, and finally to the airport on my last day in Istanbul.

Katerina met us at the reception and accompanied us to the PET department. She was with me during my consultation with the doctor before the PET-CT scan and explained each step of the procedure in detail.

I received the PET-CT results within four business days, and the English translation was provided the next day.

I want to express my deep gratitude to Katerina and Liv Hospital for their great help in such a delicate matter. I will definitely return to Liv Hospital for a comprehensive check-up next year.

I would like to draw your attention to a matter regarding my recent experiences at LIV Hospital. This week was my third visit, and I must express my disappointment with the secretaries in the MRI/ultrasound area. Their manner is consistently unfriendly, without smiles, and at times openly rude. As a person paying for medical services, like any other client, it is unpleasant to observe what looks like a difference in the treatment of foreigners and Turkish citizens. In addition, the disrespectful and offensive manner in which they interact with the interpreters helping us is deeply troubling. Unfortunately, based on these encounters, several acquaintances advised me to refrain from further visits to LIV Hospital. While I acknowledge the commendable standards maintained by the medical staff and interpreters, I firmly believe that the overall customer service experience requires immediate attention and correction. Despite the hospital’s impressive hotel-like facilities, the shortcomings in customer service undermine its reputation. Therefore, I call for a thorough evaluation and improvement of customer service protocols to ensure fair and respectful treatment of all patients and visitors.

But, in my opinion, the design of the hospital floors is very claustrophobic. It has a low ceiling, like a metro station, and there isn’t a single window in the waiting area. The hospital is excellent. I’ll explain why 3 stars. First of all, they have good, understanding doctors who listen.

Their nursing team is very attentive. The rooms are clean, and they have 5-star service when it comes to cleaning and food.

So why only 3 stars? For an international hospital that targets foreigners, there is a language barrier. You will have difficulties with almost everyone. The reports and everything are in Turkish. I asked for my report, and they said the English version would be ready tomorrow. It took me a week to get one, which was translated hastily and with Google Translate.

Something else I found disappointing — the fact that they told me they would offer me discounts, and actually started billing me every day, and when I ask them about the discounts, they tell me when I leave the hospital! But I am actually paying you every day. I did not like this business model and the lack of honesty.

Otherwise it’s an excellent hospital. If you find a doctor who speaks English — I was lucky to have one — and you can ignore their money-machine tactics, you’ll be fine.

Diagnosis: Pancreatic cancer

After visiting Live Hospital, we only have good impressions. Dr. Selemi Suzubish – above all praise, he was very polite, correct, patient, answered all our questions in detail and explained. We are also very pleased with the work of the coordinator and translators. It should be noted that the examination procedure performed by means of the cool tomograph was very difficult and hard for the child. We did not pass it in one step, the second part was carried out the next day.

What advanced methods of cancer treatment are used in Liv Hospital?

In the oncological centers of the clinics of Liv Ulus Hospital, Istinye Liv Hospital Bahceehir, Liv Hospital Vladistanbul, surgical treatment in patients with 1-2 stages of cancer is performed. The standard of surgical treatment of many types of cancer is robotic interventions using the Da Vinci system.

Radiation therapy is carried out using the latest radiotherapy technologies. For example, the Versa-HD HEXAPOD linear accelerator and the MR Linac Unity Electa innovative apparatus are used.

What cancer tumors are removed with the Da Vinci robot in Live Hospital?

Live Hospital: cancer tumors removed with the Da Vinci robotWith the help of the surgical robot of the latest generation DA Vinci XI, surgeons successfully perform operations for the following types of cancer:

  • lungs and mediastinum;
  • pancreas;
  • liver, gall bladder, and biliary tract;
  • kidneys, bladder;
  • uterus, cervix, ovary;
  • prostate gland;
  • colon and rectum.

The qualifications of surgeons that specialize in the same type of cancer are very high. Therefore, the success indicator of these operations is approaching the same one as in many European clinics. For example, such an indicator of operations in gynecological cancer is 93%.

Performing operations to remove the tumor through several cuts up to 1 cm minimizes the risk of complications and significantly reduces the rehabilitation period of patients. This makes it possible to quickly begin the next stage of treatment – radiosurgery or chemotherapy.

What are the advantages of radiation therapy for cancer in Liv Hospital Ulus?

Radiation therapy for cancer in Liv Hospital UlusIn the Liv Hospital Ulus clinic in Istanbul, radiation therapy of cancer tumors is carried out on the innovative device MR Linac Unity Electa. In this device, a linear accelerator is combined with a powerful MRI scanner of 1.5 Tesla. MRI better than CT visualizes the tumor against the background of healthy tissues. As well, there is no additional radiation load on the patient, as in an X-ray examination.

During irradiation, a tumor is performed in real-time with an interval of less than one second. This allows the computer in MR Linac to automatically monitor the displacement of the tumor during inspiration and exhalation of the patient and adjust the beam with an accuracy of 0.05 mm.

In addition, the doctor takes into account changes in the size and density of the tumor after the previous session of radiotherapy and adjusts the dose of irradiation. This irradiation technology allows to maximize the dose and preserve healthy tissues next to the tumor. Therefore, the patient is usually carried out at first only 5 sessions of radiotherapy (instead of 30, which are prescribed during treatment with other devices).

Today, this technology of irradiation is the most advanced in the world. MR Linac gives a chance to recover for patients who had not previously suited radiotherapy. For example, patients with tumors constantly moving when breathing in the lungs or upper abdomen as well as patients with neoplasms that are difficult to irradiate due to organs located next to them, especially sensitive to irradiation of the stomach, kidneys, heart, and spinal cord.

What is the difference between chemotherapy for cancer in LIV Hospital?

Chemotherapy for cancer in LIV HospitalChemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy are carried out according to the latest international treatment protocols with proven effectiveness. Oncologists use a personalized approach when prescribing treatment. They also use a number of technologies to minimize the side effects of therapy.

In order to maintain hair while introducing chemotherapy, the DIGNICAP system is used. A silicone hat cooled with a liquid is put on the patient’s head. This causes a narrowing of blood vessels on the scalp. The amount of medicine entering the hair follicles and hair loss is reduced.

In the oncological departments, the computer innovative Digital System Assisted Artificial Intelligence in Cancer Treatment has been introduced. The artificial intelligence of this system helps accurately calculate the doses of chemotherapy, targeted and immune drugs. The attending physician and nurse have access to the system. A robotic chemotherapeutic installation and a pharmacy are also connected to it. This system allows to optimize the chemotherapy process and completely adjust it to each patient.

All doctors in this direction constantly undergo a training course abroad. Before performing surgery, they create on a computer a 3-D image of the nose, chest, face, and all other areas of the body after surgery and show it to the patient. Doctors select surgical techniques to achieve such an aesthetic result.

Children and adolescents with rare and severe diseases that require high-tech types of treatment turn to pediatric clinics especially often. Bone marrow transplantation is the most in-demand among them.

Liv Hospital Vladistanbul collaborates with the world-famous Boston Children’s Hospital. Turkish pediatricians treat all children in collaboration with American leading experts. The clinic has all the necessary equipment to perform diagnostics and treatment in accordance with these recommendations.

Most often, Liv Hospital admits for treatment children with cancer and hematological diseases, as well as for complex surgical interventions. Doctors seek cure with the help of minimally invasive surgical techniques. For example, three cases of a rare type of cancer in children (2 cases of ganglioneuroblastoma and retroperitoneal teratoma) are successfully cured by children’s surgeons with the help of operations without additional treatment.

What diagnostics can you do in Liv Hospital?

In the clinics of Liv Hospital, you can undergo separate studies that are not available to many people at the place of residence. These include PET-KT, which is required by many patients receiving cancer treatment, as well as positron emission mammography (PEM), a variety of PET for the mammary gland. This PEM scanner exists only in a few clinics in the world. PEM allows to identify a tumor in the mammary gland with a size of 1-2 mm.

In LIV Hospital, in the conditions of the clinic, various Check-Up programs can be passed. These programs include a comprehensive examination of the patient and a doctor’s consultation. Check-UP programs are developed taking into account the age, gender, and risk of occurrence of certain diseases that Check-Up will help to identify at an early stage. For example, there are Check-Up for women after 45 years, Cardiological Check-Up, Check-UP for men after 65 years, etc.
