To improve surgical precision, doctors use a 3 Tesla intraoperative MRI. This device allows real-time monitoring of the procedure, enabling maximal removal of pathological tissue while preserving healthy brain structures.
Oncology Center
The cancer center at Medical Park Pendik is equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment. PET-CT is used to detect malignant tumors, and PSMA-PET scanning is applied for prostate cancer diagnosis. These methods allow early detection and assessment of disease spread.
The clinic provides radiotherapy using intensity-modulated radiation on the TrueBeam STx system. This technology delivers high doses of radiation precisely to the tumor while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue. Gamma Knife is used for radiosurgery of brain tumors.
The center offers modern pharmacological cancer treatments: targeted therapy, immunotherapy with PD-1 inhibitors, and CAR-T cell therapy. The latter is an innovative approach where a patient’s immune cells are genetically modified to fight cancer cells.
Orthopedics and Joint Replacement
Orthopedic surgeons perform procedures on bones and joints, including arthroscopic interventions on knee, shoulder, and other joints, treating meniscus tears, ligament injuries, and dislocations.
For joint replacement, VM Medical Park Pendik uses the MAKO robotic system by Stryker. The robot assists in hip and knee arthroplasty. A 3D model of the patient’s joint is created using CT scans and uploaded to the system. The surgeon plans the procedure according to anatomical features, and the robot ensures component placement with sub-millimeter accuracy, improving long-term outcomes and reducing complication risks.
Spinal Surgery
The spinal surgery department specializes in treating spinal disorders. Surgeons use spinal navigation systems to track surgical instruments in real time, achieving around 91% accuracy, crucial when operating near nerves and the spinal cord.
Orthopedic surgeons also perform minimally invasive procedures such as discectomy and microdiscectomy for intervertebral disc herniation removal, laminectomy and laminotomy for nerve root decompression, and foraminotomy to enlarge intervertebral openings.
Plastic Surgery

My mother suffered a femur fracture. We came to this hospital, and she was discharged after nine days. Our orthopedic doctor, Assoc. Prof. Fırat, performed a very successful surgery and was attentive throughout. The orthopedic staff on the 5th floor were also very caring — the medical care was excellent. That’s why we transferred her here from Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital. However, the food service was terrible. The meals were bad, the service poor, and the hygiene questionable. The kitchen needs serious improvement — patients should have meals suitable for their condition.

Excellent facilities and staff. I was looked after very well by the doctors and all the nurses. They go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable and at ease even with the language barrier. A lot of staff speak English but those who don’t use Google translate to communicate with you and make sure you are OK.
