Modern clinic. The front desk is good. We had to wait the doctor 50 minutes. It’s good that the staff thought of redirecting to another doctor. I got to a professional, I am satisfied with the reception. The clinic is well equipped. I don’t put 5, because they made me wait. So fix it soon! Otherwise, everything is very good. However, I think there is room for improvement! Good luck.

What are the unique techniques and technologies in Dünyagöz Istanbul?

The operating rooms of Duniagoz Hospital, specially designed for eye surgery, are fully equipped with the latest technological equipment, thanks to which the center performs both simple and the most complex operations.

What are the unique techniques and technologies in DuniagozThe hospital is famous for the following technologies:

  • Argon Laser is an argon laser used for retinal detachment and for coagulation of vascular pathology.
  • HRT II is a retinal tomograph that allows for a comprehensive assessment of the state of the optic nerve head, the macular zone, and the entire central zone of the retina.
  • Auto Kerato-Refractometer – an eye examination device necessary for calculating an artificial lens, an implantable intraocular lens, refractive surgery, and fitting contact lenses and glasses.
  • TOPCON CL-200 is a high-tech device that allows to accurately select the most suitable optical lenses.

Duniagoz Hospital has a quality certificate from the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the German Technical Inspection Association (TUV). During operations, lenses and materials approved by the American Health Administration (FDA) are used.

How long does the examination at Dünyagöz Istanbul Hospital take?

How long does the examination at Duniagoz Hospital takeThe eye examination takes about 30 minutes. If the examination reveals problems with the retina or the doctor finds a problem related to the optic nerves, the examination using drops will take 45 minutes. With a comprehensive eye examination, many diseases can be prevented.

Stages of an eye examination:

  1. Checking visual acuity.
  2. Examination for the need for glasses (refraction test).
  3. Examination of the eyelids.
  4. Examination of the eye muscles.
  5. Measurement of eye pressure.
  6. Biomicroscopic examination.
  7. Examination of the fundus of the eye.

The cost of treatment at Duniagoz CenterThe formation of the final price is influenced by the presence of concomitant diseases, which may require a longer diagnosis and stay in the intensive care unit.

The cost of treatment in Duniagoz for some services:

  • specialist consultation is from $150;
  • keratoconus (crosslinking, stromal rings) is from $1,600;
  • cornea grafting – $11,000;
  • i-lasik laser correction 2 eyes – $1,525;

What is keratoplasty and is it done in Duniagoz?

What is keratoplasty and is it done in DuniagozThe cornea is an inclined transparent layer of the eye, located in front of the eye. It performs the task of focusing light and protecting the eye from external factors. It plays an important role in visual function and is the most important refractive lens of the eye.

Keratoplasty is the replacement of diseased tissue with healthy donor tissue for diseases that disrupt the shape or transparency of the cornea.

Cornea grafting is performed on any diseased layer in the corneal tissue. Methods differ depending on the state of the endothelial cell, which is located in the inner layer of the corneal tissue and keeps the cornea transparent.

In Dunyaguez, according to the patient’s corneal disease, advanced cornea graftings are usually performed, such as:

  • DALK is an anterior lamellar keratoplasty. The anterior part of the cornea is replaced with a thickness of 85-90%. In this type of transplantation, the chance of rejection of the donor tissue is much lower. It is used for keratoconus and corneal spots.
  • DSAEK, DMEK. This is a cornea grafting, in which endothelial replacement is made for eyes with corneal edema or endothelial deficiency where the previous cornea has not engrafted. With this type of cornea grafting, patients can return to their normal lives in a few weeks. Patients do not need to wait up to a year for wound healing and removal of sutures, as in classical transplantation. After cornea grafting, the diopters do not change and astigmatism does not occur.

Patients’ and donors’ corneas can be cut to desired shapes using a femtosecond laser instead of trephine blades. Cornea grafting, cut with a femtosecond laser, reduces astigmatism and improves vision in patients.

Are the surgeries for implantation of a keratobioimplant performed in the hospital?

Are the surgeries for implantation of a keratobioimplant performed in the hospitalWhen performing the surgery, the surgeon removes individual sections of the cornea or the entire cornea and installs a keratobioimplant on these areas. With the help of a special suture material, it is attached to the peripheral part of the patient’s cornea.

To date, several technologies for keratobioimplant implantation are used:

  1. Through the implantation of a keratobioimplant. The entire cornea in the optical zone is replaced.
  2. Anterior layered implantation of a keratobioimplant (DALK). The anterior layers of the cornea are replaced.
  3. Corneal endothelial transplant (DMEK/ DSAEK). The posterior layers of the cornea are replaced.

For all these surgeries, a keratobioimplant is used that is perfectly compatible with the cornea of the eye. Thanks to the keratobioimplant operation, the correct shape and structure of the cornea are restored. Vision is restored to the highest possible quality.

What are the indications and contraindications for the installation of a keratobioimplant?

What are the indications and contraindications for the installation of a keratobioimplantThousands of such surgeries are performed every year around the world. They show high efficiency in the treatment of complex diseases of the cornea of the eye. According to clinical studies, more than 90% of keratobioimplant implantation operations are successful.

Implantation of a keratobioimplant is indicated for a patient with the following diagnoses:

  • keratoconus (when corneal crosslinking is not indicated);
  • corneal dystrophy, significantly reducing visual acuity;
  • Fuchs endothelial dystrophy;
  • corneal ulcers caused by various infections;
  • chemical burns of the cornea;
  • severe corneal injury;
  • corneal scars;
  • dystrophic and burn thorns on the cornea.

Intervention is contraindicated in people with vascularized corneal thorns, especially burn etiology. The implantation of a keratobioimplant is not carried out if the risk of its rejection is too high.

For whom is keratoplasty contraindicated?

For whom is keratoplasty contraindicatedCorneal layer transplantation is a micro-invasive procedure. At Duniagoz Hospital, doctors are skilled in working with a number of special microsurgical instruments, but sometimes corneal transplantation may be contraindicated.

Keratoplasty cannot be performed in the following cases:

  • vascularization (fouling of vessels) of one’s own cornea;
  • uncompensated glaucoma;
  • acute inflammatory diseases of the eye (conjunctivitis) and adnexa (blepharitis);
  • the patient’s immune status, which increases the risk of rejection;
  • the presence of uncompensated common diseases (diabetes mellitus);
  • mental disorders.
