Endocrinology in South Korea

Тhis hospital does not accommodate breastfeeding for newborns. No rooming in allowed. There’s only a one-person nursing room for the entire labor and delivery ward, so each mom is allowed one 30 min breastfeeding slot per day. Nurses and doctors are great but hospital policy is not.

i’ve been a patient here for three years (for allergic asthma) and they’ve been consistently good. long wait times for your first appointment or for examinations (4+ weeks for busy departments) and more expensive than other clinics but that’s to be expected from university hospitals in south korea. nurses are polite. facilities are good. doctors seem knowledgeable.

The whole hospital is spacious and clean. I think it is one of the top 5 hospitals in Korea. I had a kidney surgery. Everything is fine now. I recommend

One of the best hospitals in Korea regarding the medication and treatment methods on leukemia, cancer, and organ transplantation. Some of the clerks are quite uninformed and unkind, yet, doctors are great.

A large general hospital, nice environment, clean. Unlike my previous orthopedic outpatient experience, I was very pleased with my appointment with the ophthalmologist.

I underwent neurosurgery on my brain at this hospital. And I believe that “all doctors are good and friendly to all patients.”

I had a consultation at the neurosurgery department of the Spine Center at Samsung Seoul Hospital. While waiting for my appointment… I had three bone growths on my neck. Six years ago, two of them were removed at another clinic, but over time, new pain appeared in my neck.

With a referral from a second-level clinic, I had an initial consultation and MRI at the Samsung Spine Center’s neurosurgery department. After that, I had a follow-up visit. This morning, I came back for another appointment.

I received conclusions about the condition of my cervical vertebrae, as well as a recommendation for an additional MRI of my head and lower back due to the exacerbation of pain and possible problems with my lumbar spine.

Fortunately, the professor who conducted the appointment examined me very carefully, thoroughly studied the problem, and gave clear recommendations. I am sincerely grateful to the professor.

It seems that I will have to be monitored at this center for some time, because I don’t want to be sick, but due to problems with my cervical and lumbar vertebrae, as well as severe headaches, I hope that after the examinations, it will become at least a little easier.

All services were provided on time, each stage of work was thought out, several times it was discussed, I received instructions, which were easy and simple to follow in a country with a foreign language. The translator met me on time, and she led me to the doctor, who confirmed the diagnosis of Moscow professors. I would like to receive advice from the doctor regarding alternative treatment methods, but the verdict is unequivocal – the need for surgery, which is proposed by Moscow doctors.

There were many people, we had to wait, but it was worth it. Professor Kim, Seok Jin, thank you very much for helping in the treatment of my mother.

The level of the Samsung clinic’s services in South Korea is very high! The medical staff is impressive! I have not seen yet such an attention to all the little details.

Hospital Samsung in Seoul is super! The best medical center in Korea! I have been observed here by neurosurgeons and neuropathologists for 11 years and they always treat me friendly and kindly.

By a happy chance, I fell into the hands of experienced doctors of the South Korean Samsung Medical Center. I was already preparing for an operation in Moscow. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, my predictions were 50 to 50. Our doctors are always afraid to take on extra responsibility for the operation. If something goes wrong in the end, they will say that this is not those 50 percent. Suddenly it turned out that my father had agreed without me that they would put me on an operation at the Samsung Center in South Korea. At first I thought he was joking – well, what kind of treatment can be in a clinic with a name like a TV. But dad insisted that I go there at least for a consultation. It turned out that this is one of the largest medical centers in South Korea with a worldwide reputation. I was examined by doctors from Korea and the United States. They made an impression on me that I could completely trust my life to them, although I didn’t always respond well to the doctors. Needless to say about the state-of-the-art equipment there! In medicine, Korea justifies its leadership in the field of world technology too. I think I had a brilliant operation. For those doctors, this is their usual job. After the anesthesia, I did not feel any pain. Postoperative observations showed that the tumor was completely removed. In six months, I will go there again for a medical examination. I am absolutely sure that I won this terrible disease with the help of Korean doctors!

I was recommended a doctor here by my doctor in Japan and I’ve been really happy with my experience for nearly 5 years now. The hospital is quick and efficient. The International Health Center is also very helpful when making appointments or when you have extra questions. I miss Saturday clinic hours but they have been flexible with scheduling overall. I commute from Incheon for this place, so I do recommend it strongly.

Great experience as an international traveller. Doctors speak English and tests were done in a swift manner. My travel insurance company worked quickly to make payment so I wasn’t out of pocket.

Went here for a visa medical check-up. The office for this check up was easy to find, but for an international department, there was lots of missing translations on forms, kiosks, in messages, you get on your phone or pre-exam questionnaires you need to fill in. The Google translation has not always made sense. Thankfully, the staff spoke English, and they were very patient, taking time to explain and show where to go. As someone, who went there to get my medical for DS-260, it did take about 2 hours like the US Visa Scheduling page said it probably would (sorting all the documents, interview with the doctor, blood test, x-ray, additional vaccination) and it cost us $335. So, if you are looking to get a medical check-up done for your visa, expect price above $280. If this is your first time at this hospital, you will need to use kiosks and bar codes you will get from the staff to register for the different procedures. It was quite confusing at first.

I’ve been treated like a princess. I went to the international clinic, to emergency and to the Otorhinolaryngology service these past few days and I can tell everyone is really professional, caring and human. They all know how to take care of patients and even if I don’t want to go back (obviously), it was the best hospital I have ever been. To the cleaners, the nurses, doctors and all the professionals I met during this sad Christmas, thank you so much for everything you did

Brought my kid here for a check-up and seen the day after with an English speaking pediatrician. Everything is ok. The doctor is very kind. The staff were also helpful. The only problem is the ultrasound appointment takes 4 months to wait. Otherwise, everything is perfect.

I have not seen such a level of service in Russia! All our family was examined, it took about 40 minutes! During this time, we examined everything that includes the standard package! After the examination we were taken to the dining room at the clinic and we were fed for free! After 3 working days, the results were ready! The doctor with the help of a translator explained everything to us, told, and showed! Great! Expensive! But it’s worth it!

The high level and quality of medicine at the Hospital of Severance, the city in Korea. The clinic is huge, everything is beautiful, clean. We really liked our doctor very much, easily and quickly found common ground, and came to a single solution to our problem. An excellent medical center for diagnostics. I visited here and was examined quickly within 2 hours, underwent the necessary tests, and received the results within 2 days.

After undergoing a medical examination and receiving the results, the consultation process was very comfortable, everything was organized attentively and kindly.

Our experience with the International Clinic here was amazing! We had an issue with booking through a third-party app that caused my husband’s appointment date to show up wrong, but the doctor still managed to squeeze in a quick consultation since we had to travel a long way and we had proof that the app told us the incorrect date. The doctor was very helpful, and ordered three tests in three different areas that were finished very quickly. Even with walk time between the different floors and buildings, we finished three different tests and made it back to the clinic area within about 40 minutes! Everyone was very kind, and at least in the international clinic they all spoke very good English (and had desks clearly marked for those that speak many other languages). Everyone was very kind and helpful. Highly recommend. 🙂

Professional medical staffs. As we don’t speak Korean, they tried their best to communicate and explain to us in detailed. Best service from the nurse in the Area 6. Thumbs up.

The doctors here are really good, they know their job well. But the other staff work as if just “for the sake of it” — they only do the bare minimum without much effort.
Because of that, they don’t really explain where to go, what to do, or what to pay attention to. If there’s an issue, they might not even pass it along.
There are lots of things in the hospital that could be improved, but it feels like the system was set up once and then just left that way without further development.

One of the best hospitals in the world. Qualified doctors work here, and everything about it inspires praise and pride in the progress humanity has achieved in medicine.
For anyone with health problems, I recommend packing your bags and heading to this hospital immediately.

A lot of service/professionalism that comes with a lot of Money with mediocre treatment

I have been suffering in Gastritis for long and have been into different medical centres. Before visiting Asan I had a hope that they can probably cure me, but it stands out to be the same type of medical expertise that I have already faced earlier. So in terms of treatment I would be rather disappointed.

I had foot surgery..ㅠㅠ I truly believe this hospital lives up to its reputation. The hospital system is very well organized, and communication with patients is excellent. I think the role of the clinical nurse was very important. I had visited this hospital before, but this was my first surgery here.. My parents had cared for patients in major hospitals for a long time, and if they ever get sick, I believe this is where they should come.. For me, the surgery here was the most comfortable and calm compared to other places.

25/08/2022 – I came back after the foot surgery to have the screws removed.. In another hospital, it was very difficult, but here I recovered much better… I hope everything goes well. I am always grateful to the clinical nurses and doctors.

The hospital’s logistics system is excellent. Patient communication is also on a very high level. The attending doctor explains very well and answers all questions thoroughly. Upon admission, patients are given a gown that fits exactly according to height and weight.

These are my personal notes on the experience I had from 2021 until my discharge in 2022.. Everything went well, and I am very happy.

Going to the hospital is never fun, but if you have to, this is one of the biggest and best hospitals in Seoul. The doctors are great, the facilities are modern, so you can really trust it.
I heard it was founded in 1989 by the former Hyundai chairman, Chung Ju-yung. Now it has two big buildings — East and West.
And right across the street there’s a nice park. In spring, when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, it’s especially beautiful and really calming.

If you look at patient treatment and safety, this is probably the best choice in South Korea. But the service during the process isn’t great (other big hospitals have the same issue). How much you can put up with that depends on the person.
By the way, the meals for accompanying family members were really bad, haha.
If Asan Hospital is confident it can be the best anywhere, maybe they should think about moving to a more spacious area with better transport access for the long term.
