We had a very positive experience with Said at Medicana Kadıköy Hospital. He was incredibly responsive, professional and kind throughout the whole process, helping my mother with translation. He made communication easy and stress-free, and was always patient and supportive. His help truly made a difference during our stay at the hospital. I had breast augmentation here, and overall it was simply a wonderful stay. All the nurses were lovely, most of them could speak English, and I never felt left alone. A very clean and comfortable room + bathroom. Even the hospital food was tasty. The best hospital stay I have ever had ⭐️

Diagnosis: Outpatient appointment

Yesterday I visited Medicana Hospital, and I had a very positive experience, especially thanks to Said, the interpreter who helped me during my visit. Since I do not speak Turkish very well, and many of the staff were not comfortable communicating in English, his support meant a great deal.

Said stayed with me for almost two hours, translated everything clearly and made sure I understood every step of the process. He was patient, respectful, kind and extremely professional. What impressed me most was that he truly went above and beyond to help me. He did not just translate words — he helped me feel safe, understood and supported in a stressful situation.

I am very grateful for his help. People like Said make the hospital experience much easier for international patients. Many thanks to him and to Medicana Hospital for providing such support.

Diagnosis: Gastric bypass

I want to say a huge, huge thank you to Yekta for explaining and organizing everything for me without any pressure, and to Begcan for helping from the moment I arrived in Istanbul and for helping me understand everything! And to all the staff at Medicana Kadıköy, who were simply amazing. The hospital itself is so clean, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The care is the best I have ever received. And last but not least — the biggest thank you to my amazing surgeon Professor Dr. Unal Sabanci. He is a wonderful and very experienced surgeon who made me feel very at ease from the moment I met him before the operation. He did a wonderful job and came to see me every day after the operation, twice a day — once in the morning and once before leaving at the end of each day. He was so friendly and made me feel very comfortable about my sleeve gastrectomy, which I had been very afraid of. If I choose to have any more operations in the future, it will definitely be here at Medicana Kadıköy, and I hope I will have the chance to see Professor Dr. Unal Sabanci again! I trust this man with my life! Many thanks to everyone for such a wonderful experience. I wish you all so much health and happiness. 🥰

Diagnosis: Deep brain stimulation

My boys were admitted for deep brain stimulation at Medicana Hospital, and it is one of the best experiences we have ever had! Thanks to the team of professionals, everything went quite smoothly. Thank you, Dr. Begcan, for your great competence and professionalism in handling us as your clients! You gave us enormous support, valuable help and pure friendly encouragement! Thank you, Dr. Hakan and Dr. Mahmed, for giving my boys a second chance to live a normal life, for caring for them as if they were your own sons, and for being truly empathetic and precise doctors for our children!! And, of course, thank you to the nurses on the second floor for hugging my boys 😊😉

Diagnosis: Rhinoplasty, breast implants, liposuction, blepharoplasty

I have friends who had operations with other doctors and ended up with pain or excessively turned-up noses. I had several operations with Dr. Celal. Nose, silicone implants under the muscle, liposuction and blepharoplasty, as well as several cosmetic procedures. I can say you will not believe it, but all these interventions performed by him are painless, and when I say this — it really is true. It was shocking even for me — after each operation I expected some pain to begin, but it never did. Friends who went to other doctors complained that they were swollen or had some pain, and they did not believe me that I did not. When I started researching the doctor and reading the comments of those who had already been operated on by him, I noticed that over the past 10 years he has not had a single dissatisfied person or a bad comment. This is mainly what attracted me to him, and I was not wrong. His assistant is kind and responsive, and the doctor is conscientious. I say this because they offered to fix my nose for free if I did not like the result. This is proof that they take responsibility if your result is not good. If you want to go somewhere else because of some advertising on Instagram and social media — do it. But if you want a stable doctor who knows his job and in whose hands both your life and your beauty are safe — then it is better not to risk it with anyone else. And the fact that even the most serious operations with him are painless is a big plus, showing moderation and experience compared with others. Thank God, I was lucky and did not come across another bad doctor. I am glad I chose him — as if I hit the jackpot on the first try.

Diagnosis: Deep brain stimulation

My father needed deep brain stimulation because of Parkinson’s disease, and the care he received at Medicana Hospital Kadıköy exceeded what words can describe. From the very beginning we were supported with kindness, professionalism and dedication 24/7.

So many wonderful people contributed to this journey: the management team, especially Mrs. Aynur and Mr. Begcan; the neurosurgeon Mr. Hakan; the neurologist Mr. Mehmet; all the nurses; and the lovely interpreter Joana. Each of them went above and beyond to make us feel safe, informed and cared for.

After many previous visits to doctors elsewhere, we are confident that choosing Medicana was the best decision we could have made. Everything went perfectly, just as promised, and my father returned to his normal life.

We are immensely grateful to everyone at Medicana Hospital Kadıköy for the outstanding care and compassion they showed our family.

Diagnosis: Severe trauma after an accident

Received five star treatment after a serious accident in Kyrgyzstan. From the ambulance ride from the airport to discharge, we were treated amazingly well. The hospital is first class. Our surgeon was excellent, Dr Hakan Simsek, he was caring, explained everything and importantly his surgery skills were excellent. He also spoke English, we felt very safe in his hands.
Whilst English was not widely spoken, a translator was always present for important meetings with the doctor. The nurses tried very hard and google translate was excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend this surgeon and the hospital. We would also highly recommend Begjan Hasanov our interpreter and helper for the stay.

Diagnosis: Removal of forehead stitches

i had a lovely experience at this hospital. i needed to remove some stitches in my forehead – as someone travelling and who isn’t health insured in Turkey, i was super nervous about how much i would be charged and where to go. thankfully, the experience in Medicana emergency was painless and swift. i paid a small processing fee and was seen immediately. i don’t speak turkish so bad to communicate with staff via google translate, but that was hardly a problem and everyone was very understanding. P.S. if you’re a foreigner, make sure you have your passport before going into emergency, as they need it to process you 🙂

Diagnosis: International patient support

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Medicana Hospital, especially to Mr. Begjan Hasanov, the International Patient Center Manager of Kadıköy Medicana. He not only assisted me with translation but also patiently accompanied me, waiting at the door of every doctor’s office. He is exceptionally supportive, informative, cooperative, respectful, well-mannered, and considerate. His willingness to help extends far beyond that moment—he is always ready to provide information or connect patients with the right people at the hospital. Words cannot truly reflect the value of his work.
The other staff members at Medicana Hospital are also very kind and professional. The doctors speak English fluently, and although Mr. Hasanov accompanied us as a translator, the doctors themselves were very knowledgeable, cooperative, and positive. Overall, the hospital offers excellent medical care with a warm and professional approach.

Diagnosis: medical check-up

I have a check-up every year, and this was my first time choosing your hospital. The staff were not very friendly.
The most important issue is that after all the procedures are completed, other hospitals usually provide a folder with your results. When I asked about it, I was told: “Go downstairs and collect your results yourself.”
What kind of approach is that???

Diagnosis: Septoplasty

The staff of this hospital are very rude and disrespectful to the patient.

In 2022 I had surgery on my nasal septum, and I was suffering from the anesthesia in my room while the nurses were chatting in the corridor instead of taking care of me. My blood pressure dropped to 40, and for some time no one was around. I had to ask for a bottle of water 3 times!!!

In addition, the secretariat is more royalist than the king himself and cannot stand any criticism, instead saying: “You cannot speak like that in front of a patient.” Obviously they have no idea about public opinion and freedom of speech.

Moreover, they demand an additional fee on top of what the insurance pays for the professor and the associates, which amounts to 2200 lira. Considering that the insurance also pays them, this is insane!

Diagnosis: Medical check-up

Just awful. I had a check-up and it was the most unpleasant and frustrating experience. No organization whatsoever. Nobody knows anything, nobody helps. I had to wait for hours to see doctors only for them not to care and to treat me like some charity case they didn’t want to deal with. As if booking a check-up isn’t worth their time. Test results take forever to come out, and the girl in charge of telling you which doctor to go to or where to head was just useless, lost, not keeping track of what had been done and what hadn’t. The whole thing was just the worst!!

Diagnosis: Cardiology appointment

I bought a check-up package for my father at Medicana Kadıköy. It also included a meeting with a cardiologist. We were booked with Professor Aycan Fahri Erkan. Even before we entered the office, an argument broke out among the assistants: “why are you taking a check-up client out of turn,” and at that moment the door opened and the doctor himself grumbled from inside. First of all, having an argument in the middle of the floor about “don’t take the check-up client” and disrupting the schedule because other patients are squeezed in — how appropriate is that, that’s the first problem. We were seen 40 minutes late both because of this argument and because the schedule wasn’t respected.

The main problem starts inside. Our professor very tensely asked whether we were a check-up patient. We said yes. My father said it was his first time coming to cardiology. He rather harshly told us: “you didn’t come to cardiology, you’re a check-up patient, I can’t interpret your results. If you had come with a regular appointment, I would have prescribed medication based on your other results, but I can’t add or remove anything from the check-up package, you didn’t come to cardiology,” — and that’s how he brushed us off. And my father is the most considerate person in the world, he was shocked. Coming as a check-up patient is apparently a crime. Because throughout the whole conversation he kept needling us about it. When we asked questions about the results, he kept brushing us off. He did an echocardiogram and didn’t even bother to give or share the result. At that moment his phone rang — to take a patient out of turn — and he shouted at the top of his voice to the person on the line: “I have 20 check-up patients in front of my door, I can’t see patients,” and slammed the phone on the table. On his specific point he is right himself, this pace is abnormal, but taking it out on us is a disgrace. Being a check-up patient is apparently a crime to him. Then I suggest he snap at the CEO and the hospital owner the same way. Then don’t sell the check-up package? Don’t work where they sell it? If he had behaved politely toward us, we would have booked a regular appointment and come. My father has carotid artery stenosis, and about his results he said nothing other than “since you’re a check-up patient, I can’t do anything.” Within 5 minutes we left feeling worse than being thrown out. Just as patients are obliged to be respectful, doctors are likewise obliged to be respectful to patients. I don’t think I’ll go to Medicana again.

Food was delicious, comparably to some other clinics I’ve been to.

Diagnosis: Wisdom teeth removal

Good service and quality work by the surgeons, but a brazen squeezing of money and terrible attitude toward clients.

We came to the clinic to remove 2 complicated lower wisdom teeth. For this we contacted a clinic aggregator that helped us find Medicana and arrange the cost of the work. We were also given the contact of Natalie — a clinic employee who speaks several languages and helps establish communication between the client and the clinic, since almost everyone at the clinic speaks only Turkish (English speakers are few).

I’ll say right away that Natalie certainly helped a lot with the whole process, but her blatant disrespect for clients’ time was very frustrating — you agree on a specific time, you come and wait up to an hour until she’s free.

Upon arriving at the clinic it turned out that someone had “mixed something up,” and the cost of the work doubled. We expected there would be additional expenses, but it was clearly more.

The operations (2 for each tooth) generally went well — the service is top-notch, the staff are experienced. I especially want to thank the surgeon and the nurse who performed the operation (unfortunately I didn’t catch their names).

But the subsequent post-operative follow-up leaves much to be desired. After the operation my gums hurt and the stitches bothered me. We arranged a meeting with Natalie, came, as usual waited about half an hour (why can’t you schedule the meeting half an hour later??) and we were seen by our attending physician (not the surgeon) — Can Gokkurt. He didn’t want to listen to me, didn’t want to examine me — he just took an X-ray and muttered that everything was fine. We had to go to the pharmacy ourselves and buy ointment to reduce the gum swelling.

By the end of our cooperation with Medicana there is a clear understanding that the clinic doesn’t care about clients, and the main work process is to grab more money, do the job quickly and part ways.
