Vasily, Belarus. 47 years old I would like to share my impressions about the hair transplant operation performed at the Cosmedica clinic in Istanbul. The decision was not easy. I started thinking about transplantation about 5 years ago and when I came to the decision I wrote to several clinics, some did not answer at all, someone contacted a week later and only Natalya, representing Cosmedica, called the next day. Largely thanks to Natalia, I made a decision and chose the Cosmedica clinic, especially after she gave me the contact of a real person who did this procedure last year and after talking with him, my doubts were gone, the decision was made. And here I am in Istanbul. The organization is at the highest level, all transversers are right on time with good comfortable minibuses, the hotel is good at breakfast, everyone is friendly and you feel at home. Now a few words about the Cosmedica clinic. The clinic is cool and modern, everything is clearly organized (tea, coffee, juices, breakfasts, lunches and much more), the staff is very friendly, the translator is always there, in general, everything is super. The procedure itself, although long (6-8 hours), is not noticeable, more excitement. Dr. Akar and all assistants are professionals in their field and it is felt immediately when you cross the threshold of the clinic. Cosmedica at a high level, I recommend.

When is the hair transplantation needed?
Alopecia (baldness) is a progressive hair loss.
There can be many reasons for alopecia. Among them are genetic predisposition, regular stress, hormonal imbalance, trauma, infectious processes, and more. It is important to determine the cause.
60% of men under the age of 50 years old and 30% of women experience baldness. A cosmetic defect in the form of a lack of hair creates psychological problems for a person. Women are especially affected.
There are 2 types of alopecia:
- Non-cicatricial: the hair follicle is not damaged. If left untreated, it can turn into cicatricial.
- Cicatricial: complete destruction of the hair follicle. The solution to the problem is transplantation.
Alopecia can be in the following forms:
- diffuse: hair becomes thinner;
- patchy: hair is absent in certain areas;
- androgenic: it occurs in men;
- totalis: the total absence of hair.

How is the FUE hair transplantation performed?
The FUE method is a modern microsurgical procedure that will help get rid of baldness in 1 session. It is considered the most requested procedure in the Cosmedica clinic.
Surgeons take grafts (bundles of 1-4 hairs) from the donor area and transplant them into thinned ones. The amount of donor’s hair is measured using the modern Tricoscan device. This makes it possible to accurately calculate the required number of grafts for transplantation. For sampling, the doctor uses a special sapphire instrument with a tip of 0.75-1 mm.
Using a thin blade, the doctor carefully removes and replants the bulbs without damaging the scalp. It is possible to transplant 4,000-5,000 grafts in one session. As a donor zone, the back of the head, chest, arms, legs, and groin are used.
The method does not require preliminary shaving and does not leave scars. The direction of growth is fully consistent with the natural one.
The procedure is painless. It is performed under local needleless anesthesia and lasts 6-8 hours.
After 1-2 weeks, the scalp heals. The result is visible after 6-12 months when new hair begins to grow from the bulbs.
With the help of the FUE method, transplantation to the area of the beard and eyebrows is also carried out.
How is DHI hair transplantation performed?
Transplantation by the DHI method is carried out by analogy with the FUE method using a special tool – a punch. The principle of operation of punch is similar to an automatic ballpoint pen. By pressing the punch button, the hair graft is immediately implanted into the scalp.
This distinguishes DHI from FUE, in which the doctor first collects the right amount of donor bulbs and places them in a special solution.

- increase of the density (up to 60-80 grafts per 1 cm);

What type of anesthesia is used by Cosmedica’s doctors while performing hair transplantation?
During the transplantation procedure, modern needle-free anesthesia is used to reduce patient anxiety. This local anesthesia does not require injections. The doctor injects pain medication twice. The first time, it is made to the donor area before the grafts were taken. The second time, it is made to the transplantation area before opening the channels.
The anesthetic is sprayed onto the skin under high pressure using a special Dermojet device. The medicine penetrates the tissues and blocks the nerves that send pain impulses. The patient feels numb.
