





























Dr. Ravi Gopal Varma is one of the leading neurosurgeons in India with more than 25 years of experience. He is currently the Director of the Aster Global Institute of Neurosciences and a leading consultant neurosurgeon at the Aster CMI and Aster RV clinics in Bangalore.
His main area of work is the treatment of movement disorders using deep brain stimulation (DBS). This is a minimally invasive method in which a device is implanted in the patient that delivers electrical impulses to specific areas of the brain. DBS is used for Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, and dystonia.
The doctor performed the first successful DBS operation in India and the third in the world for neuroacanthocytosis. He also introduced DBS programs in major medical centers in India, including NIMS (Hyderabad), KEM Hospital (Mumbai), and Apollo Hospital (Hyderabad).
In addition to DBS, he treats epilepsy surgically, performs microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia, as well as operations for brain tumors and vascular diseases, including aneurysms.
He has been invited to participate in major medical and public forums, including the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.
Author of publications in Indian and international journals. Regularly prepares expert articles and video lectures on deep brain stimulation, brain tumor treatment, awake brain surgery, and epilepsy treatment.
