I am writing today because I must. As someone skeptical of much in medicine, I now truly want to share a very positive story.

My mother was hospitalized at a major hospital for mitral valve replacement surgery in February of this year. Although the complex operation was successful, she regained consciousness very slowly afterward, and we were told she had had a stroke in the left hemisphere of the brain.
She was on a ventilator for a month, developed ventilator dependence, and had a complete absence of movement on the right side of her body. We were told that they could not help further, as the hospital had no neurorehabilitation department.

In desperation, we contacted Dr. Ravi Gopal Varma, head of neurosciences at Aster CMI. After a quick analysis of the case, he asked to transfer my mother under his supervision at Aster CMI, as she needed multidisciplinary care.
We arranged transport by ambulance with a ventilator.

The transfer was organized flawlessly. Ms. Girija and Ms. Nirmala Margaret from the neuro team helped make the process calm and safe.
In the intensive care unit, she was immediately taken under the supervision of Dr. Raghavendra Pai.

He and his team accomplished the nearly impossible in 30 days. Every day he explained her condition and treatment in detail.
It was found that the patient was not synchronizing with the ventilator, and the lungs needed to be restored first.

After a month, she was transferred to the rehabilitation department, the tracheostomy tube was removed, she began to eat on her own, and is gradually recovering.

Enormous gratitude to the entire team of doctors, nurses, and therapists who worked with her every day.
