Recently I had gallbladder surgery at Medicana Beylikdüzü with Doctor Ozan Akinci. During the operation, I was informed that a growth was found in my stomach.
However, this was said when I had not fully recovered from the anesthesia and could not properly ask questions. The shock and anxiety were strong.
When I tried to get information later, the doctor was difficult to find. The information was passed to me through a familiar doctor.
The next day, when I asked questions before discharge, I did not receive calm and understandable explanations. Phrases like "give a percentage or numbers?" only increased my anxiety.
When asked why a biopsy was not taken, the answer was: "could have taken it, could have not — didn't take it". When asked about the sutures, the doctor said he didn't remember what he sewed with.
Also after the operation I was told that the dressing could be done at home, although usually this is done in the hospital. Later I was even told to complain anywhere I want.
I don't want to blame anyone, perhaps the treatment was correct. But what's important is not only the operation, but also the attitude and communication with the patient.
Especially in a stressful situation, more calm and empathetic communication was expected.
