Graduated from the Grodno Medical Institute in Belarus with honors.
Trained in colorectal surgery in the surgical department of the Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Israel.
From 2005 to 2007 he underwent training in medical colorectal surgery in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Florida, USA.

Professional achievements

Dr. Haykin is the only surgeon in Israel who uses the most advanced transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) technology in his surgeries.
On October 16, 2011, Dr. M. Haykin performed the first surgery in the history of Israeli medicine to remove a rectal tumor by laparoscopic low anterior rectal resection (umbilical laparoscopy). This operation allowed the surgeon to access the patient’s abdomen through natural openings. The likelihood of pain or complications was minimal. The tumor was completely removed from the operated 55-year-old man.
