Neurosurgical procedure
First of all, I would like to note that the hospital has no parking problems and maintains a high standard of cleanliness. The nurses and other staff were friendly and attentive. I especially remember staff member Fethiye and nurse Aleyna, who treated us warmly and were always there for us. My greatest thanks go to neurosurgeons Gucluhan Guclu and Sanubar Nazarli, as well as assistant physician Mehrad G. Bostani, for their professionalism, dedicated teamwork, and care.

Lumbar spondylolisthesis
On 15 April 2025, Dr Dogan Gucluhan Guclu operated on me for vertebral slippage at VM Medical Park Florya. The vertebrae were stabilized with screws, plates, and an interbody cage. The operation was successful: the next day I could walk in a brace without pain, the numbness and tingling disappeared, and within a week I stopped taking medication. At follow-up, the doctor confirmed bone fusion and allowed me to stop wearing the brace. I thank the doctor, his assistant Hilal Erdag, and the entire team for their professionalism, support, and attentive care.

Cervical disc herniation
I have the deepest respect for the doctor. I underwent surgery for a cervical disc herniation, and everything went very successfully. He is an excellent surgeon who inspires confidence in his patients. In four months I am due to have surgery for a Chiari malformation, and I plan to return to him. I am very glad that I met this doctor.

Chiari malformation
My wife was diagnosed with a Chiari malformation. We searched for a specialist for a long time and, following many recommendations, consulted Dr Dogan Gucluhan Guclu. She underwent surgery two days ago and has already been discharged home. Her recovery is proceeding smoothly, and she hardly needs pain medication. Throughout treatment, the doctor explained everything in detail and gave us confidence. We thank the doctor and his entire team.

Cervical disc herniation
On 26 December 2012, Dr Dogan operated on me for a cervical disc herniation. I had to wait about two months for the diagnosis and surgery, but the result was worth it: the procedure was completed without complications, and I regained my health. The doctor knows how to reassure patients and put them at ease. I thank him and wish him continued success.

Clinical experience: more than 30 years

Associate Professor Dogan Gucluhan Guclu is a neurosurgeon specializing primarily in spine surgery. He treats herniated discs, spinal canal stenosis, nerve-root compression, limb pain and weakness, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, and other spinal deformities.

He also treats neurosurgical diseases of the brain and spinal cord. Imaging, neurological deficits, and previous treatment outcomes are evaluated before treatment is selected. Surgery is considered only when indicated and is tailored to the level and nature of the lesion.

He completed his neurosurgery specialization in 2003 and has more than 23 years of post-specialization experience. He conducts academic work at Istanbul Aydin University and publishes research on surgical anatomy, lumbar disc procedures, and spine surgery.

Conditions treated

  • herniated discs;
  • spinal canal stenosis;
  • nerve-root compression;
  • spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, and other deformities;
  • spinal injuries;
  • brain and spinal cord tumors;
  • complex conditions requiring neurosurgical assessment.

Patients should provide MRI or CT scans, radiology reports, neurological examination results, and details of previous treatment. This helps correlate imaging findings with pain, numbness, weakness, or gait problems and determine whether surgery is indicated.

Dogan Gucluhan Guclu graduated from Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and completed neurosurgery specialization in 2003. He worked at Sadi Konuk Hospital and is academically active at Istanbul Aydin University.
