



Assoc. Prof. Bulent Baran is a leading gastroenterologist, hepatologist and endoscopist at Koç University Hospital in Istanbul, and Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Koç University School of Medicine. He has more than 20 years of clinical experience.
He graduated from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Istanbul University), completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Uludağ University, and his fellowship in Gastroenterohepatology and advanced ERCP training at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. He has completed international advanced endoscopy programs: ESGE Advanced Endoscopy (Italy, Modules I and II), ESDO (Brussels), Peter B. Cotton Fellowship (MUSC, Charleston), Berenson International Scholarship (Beth Israel Deaconess, Harvard Medical School), as well as fellowships at UTHealth (Houston) and Daegu Catholic University (South Korea).
Areas of interest: ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic endosonography (EUS), advanced EMR/ESD, balloon enteroscopy, GI stenting, pancreatic cystic neoplasms, chronic viral hepatitis (HBV/HCV/HDV), inflammatory bowel diseases, primary biliary cholangitis.
Member of the Education Committee of the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO Star), Fellow of European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (FEBGH), member of ESGE, EASL, ECCO. Academic Editor of Medicine®, Editorial Board Member of World Journal of Hepatology.
Author of numerous publications on chronic viral hepatitis, IBD, ERCP, endosonography and pancreatic cystic neoplasms. H-index — 11.
