Diagnosis: Surgical operation

Endless gratitude to the professor of general surgery Aydın İnan and his entire team; my father underwent a successful operation. Professor Aydın is a doctor beyond all praise, both as a person and as a surgeon at the very highest level. He attends to his patient in detail and answers every question patiently and clearly — that is very reassuring. I decided to write a review even before discharge: cleanliness and hygiene are at the proper level, and so is the food. We are very pleased and I am sure we will leave just as satisfied. Once again I thank Professor Aydın İnan for his contribution to restoring my father’s health.

Despite my mother’s advanced age and other health problems, Dr. Bilgehan Tağrıkulu and his team successfully performed her second hip replacement operation. We owe a great deal to this doctor and his team, who build relationships with patients based on trust, love and respect and treat the sensitivity of relatives with understanding. Thanks to the professor, my mother’s health and spirits are recovering quickly. Enormous gratitude to him. From the bottom of my heart I thank the entire nursing team on the 5th floor and the golden-hearted nurse Kevser for caring for my mother and supporting our family throughout the whole process. Special thanks to Serap Eymir from the inpatient support department for the support and confidence she gave us from admission to discharge. And, of course, great gratitude to the Medical Park Ankara coordinator, the highly respected Professor Tonguç Sügüneş — for his support, understanding, trust and for assembling and leading such a wonderful team. In difficult moments you always extend a hand to us — it’s good that you exist, Medical Park Ankara.

My dear Dr. Gülenay,

I sincerely thank you for your attention, patience and professionalism at every stage — from the beginning of the pregnancy to the birth itself. Because you sincerely answered every question of mine, listened to me with understanding and guided me in the best possible way, I always felt safe.

You showed that you are not only a successful doctor but also a caring, attentive person who instills confidence in patients. Thanks to you, I spent this special and important period in peace.

I am grateful for your efforts, support and smile. It’s good that our paths crossed.

Also a special big thank-you to your assistant Emine — for her kindness, sincerity, ever-friendly smile and goodwill at every appointment.

When I think about the most important moment of my life, it is especially precious that you gave me such wonderful moments.

The maternity ward of Medical Park Ankara Batıkent became for us not just a ward, but a place that accompanied the most unforgettable moments of our lives.

We were very lucky that our paths crossed with two most valuable doctors — Associate Professor Gülenay Gencosmanoğlu Türkmen and specialist Çağatay Özkan, who, with their experience, calmness and trustworthy approach, reassured us even in the most difficult moments. Behind each of their decisions stood both great experience and a true conscience.

The esteemed nurses and staff of the maternity ward showed indescribable dedication. They did not merely do their job — they listened patiently, supported us warmly, and made us feel they were with us every minute. Their smiles, understanding and attention to even the smallest details turned this period from fear into hope.

Meeting such a humane and strong team is great fortune. May God grant health to everyone who put in their strength and soul. We are grateful to the hospital management for assembling such a trustworthy team. It’s good that you exist.

The former high standard of quality and the individual approach are gone — like in an ordinary state hospital, you wait a very long time. Especially if they schedule an ultrasound or MRI — the appointment is at least 15 days ahead. Even if you arrive at the appointed time, you still wait. I choose it because of its proximity, but this is already very tiring.

Diagnosis: Osteotomy and MPFL reconstruction

I’m going to tell a long story because I want to mention everyone by name. I had a very difficult surgery — osteotomy and MPFL reconstruction. Making this decision was extremely hard for me personally. I consulted many doctors and visited several hospitals. I was very scared and anxious.
My dear and wonderful doctor Erkan Alkan explained everything to me before the surgery — why it was necessary, how it would be performed, what the alternatives were, and what possible scenarios could occur. I tend to ask a lot of questions, and he answered every one of them with great patience and kindness. He guided me in the right direction and performed the surgery with incredible dedication. Now I can already stand up with a walker — all thanks to my amazing doctor.

Special thanks to the lady who handled my private insurance for her attention and detailed explanations.

Nurse Münevver, who took my blood when I was admitted, is the most skillful nurse I’ve ever met. Because my veins are thin and slippery, it usually takes four attempts out of ten to draw blood, often from my hand. But Münevver Hanım did it perfectly on the first try — confidently and without pain. Thank you so much!

Anesthesiologist Dilara Hanım convinced me to go with spinal anesthesia, although I wanted general anesthesia because I’m a very tense person. She explained everything with a smile, told me why spinal anesthesia was better, and made me feel safe. The surgery lasted longer than expected, but she stayed by my side and supported me throughout.

My main hero is Muhittin Bey, who took care of me after the surgery — did my dressings, helped me put on compression stockings when I couldn’t move my leg from pain, and showed incredible patience and compassion. When I screamed reflexively during drain removal, he reacted with great understanding and empathy. He also showed me how to change dressings and do physical therapy exercises, helped me walk, and caught me when I almost fainted. Thanks to him, I’m doing so well now.

The kitchen staff, housekeeping, and the nurses working at night (especially the gentleman from Ardahan, who was very kind the first night) were all excellent.

I’m adding photos of some of the meals — especially the spinach stew, which was delicious. I’m so glad I chose this place. The team was very professional and meticulous — we could feel their care in every detail. The only thing that could be improved is the cable TV, but as my husband said, “Since Fenerbahçe lost effortlessly to Benfica, we didn’t really miss anything” 😊
Thank you for everything!

My wife gave birth on June 25. After the birth, until morning the nurses did not come and did not check on her, they didn’t bring her soup after the birth, and the postpartum sherbet was sent only after we asked 5 times. In addition, the food for the companion was also brought only after 3–4 reminders.

I won’t choose you again. We went through this, and I am writing so that others don’t go through it. When we bought the birth package, we were told everything would be attentive and caring — the only thing we were satisfied with was the process before the birth itself. Diagnosis: Cardiac examination (Holter), preparation for surgery

I was treated in the hospital’s cardiology department. The doctors and staff were friendly and the examinations were done well. Professor Selçuk Özkan handled the whole process professionally.

The hospital’s main problem is communication.

When you need to contact any department, they connect you to the general customer service and create a call-back request.

I had to file such a request three times. The first was when I was wearing the Holter monitor and thought it wasn’t working and wanted support. I called in the morning around 8:00 and only got an answer at 15:30 — and by then I had to go to the hospital myself. It turned out that the Holter, which was supposed to be fitted for 48 hours, had only been set for 24. It happens — the human factor — but a response at 15:30 is no longer a “human factor,” and it shouldn’t be that way.

When it became clear that I needed surgery, they said they would call when approval came from the insurance. There was no call, so I had to file a request again. I asked for price information — they promised to call back, didn’t, I filed another request, and now I’ve been waiting two days for an answer.

This is a hospital! If your system is like this — set up its infrastructure properly so that people don’t suffer!

The hospital urgently needs to solve its traffic problem. After entering from the emergency-room side, the roads are in terrible condition — I don’t know whether to complain to the municipality or not. In front of the gate, on both sides, there is such a flow of cars that even an ambulance can barely get in.

My first recommendation is to repair the roads, the second — to ban parking along the curbs to widen them, and the third — to mark the location on the map not from the emergency entrance side but from the front, where there is parking. The map directs you to the emergency entrance, and it’s already cramped there.

Diagnosis: Cesarean section

Two months ago I gave birth at Medical Park Batıkent. At first we took the birth package with Ahmet Sühi, but the relationship didn’t work out (he smelled very strongly of cigarettes), and after a few months we switched to Dr. Tülay Özkılıç. She is very attentive, friendly, always available day and night, solves problems — a very kind and tactful doctor. She did the cesarean in half an hour 🙂

Then we went up to the room, but some of the floor nurses — I don’t know whether from fatigue — were indifferent and gloomy. We didn’t eat the food: in the morning they sent a breakfast tray, but it was obvious it had sat for a long time — everything cold and shriveled, it was impossible to eat. The biggest problem is the parking; construction has been going on for years, everything is dusty :S

Our little one was in the neonatal intensive care unit for a week — I was satisfied with the nurses there, they showed us the baby for half an hour a day. I expressed milk and brought it. It’s clean inside, the doctor is attentive, she gave us information every day. Because she was in intensive care, my daughter got used to the bottle and refused the breast — I think the breastfeeding time could have been longer; half an hour of latching once a day is too little! On this point I found the rules very strict; because of this rule my daughter “fell in love” with formula 🙁 If the hospital worked on this, it would be better for mothers too! Prices, as you know, are high here, but what can you do — we try to go to private ones, because in state ones the queue no longer reaches us because of migrants! Overall I was satisfied with Medical, I take off two points for the organization of breastfeeding.

Diagnosis: Inpatient treatment

The doctor (Hakan Dur) was quite rude — in his opinion, I have no right to know the details of the treatment my person is receiving, I should simply passively accept everything without questions, what medication is given and what its effect is. We arrived at the hospital on Saturday around 12 o’clock, and I distinctly smelled alcohol on the doctor… It seems he rested on Friday evening, and on Saturday he had to work, of course he didn’t get enough sleep — how will he treat patiently people who are just trying to find out the treatment plan… My cautious attempts to clarify what exactly was being administered, whether it would reduce the pain or not — angered him; he felt that I, as a doctor, did not trust him. He may be a good doctor, but the smell of alcohol from a person does not inspire trust in me. And I’m sure I’m not the only one in the world who thinks so. The patient is my relative; in the hospital’s system she is registered as a foreigner, not a citizen of Turkey, and I did everything possible to understand the doctor’s words. But the doctor almost threw me out and very rudely said that I should bring someone who speaks Turkish. Well then, why do you announce that you serve foreigners? Why is it fine to charge me as a foreign patient (I paid about 7000 lira for treatment), but you are not willing to explain what you are going to do with my body?? The patient is my relative, she was in very severe pain, and I wanted to help. I felt as if trapped: I depended on this doctor because he had started the treatment, but I had no way to clearly understand what exactly would be done and what the effect would be. It’s a very bad feeling to be trapped. I hope the treatment helps or at least does no harm, but I would strongly recommend that the head of the department pay attention to this doctor, because he clearly likes alcohol. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone, even if he is a genius.

What I didn’t like — there was a draft in the entrance hall while we waited for the doctor — we got cold. I’m amazed which architect thought to place the seating opposite the door.

The second downside — there is no card system for companions, patients, visitors. Everyone comes and goes, freely until 10 p.m. On the one hand this freedom is convenient, but from the point of view of hygiene and safety it is questionable.

However inexpensive this hospital may be, it is overcrowded. Spots fill up and free up quickly. A high-traffic hospital.

Diagnosis: Outpatient appointment

The staff are definitely very friendly and warm, but because of the hospital’s internal policy, unfortunately I cannot give 5 stars. After paying for the appointment, they may bill you extra even for breathing. This amount is not told to you until the last moment. It ends up like “pay, or you won’t get the data.”

Diagnosis: Inpatient treatment

A very busy hospital.

Patients lying on the upper and intermediate floors have to go down to the lowest floor to smoke.

The inpatient department has 41 TV channels.

They didn’t give the Wi-Fi password.

The most important point — the rooms have no automatic air conditioners with digital control; you either burn or freeze.

There is almost no parking.

The cafeteria prices are normal.

Diagnosis: Lumbar disc herniation

Thanks to Professor İsmail Bozkurt, I got rid of my lumbar herniation 🙂

Although I had been dissatisfied with this hospital many times before, thanks to Professor İsmail you could say I made peace with the hospital again 🙂

But the team of doctors on the night shift — either inexperienced, or so it seemed to me. One night we used the emergency service — the decisions about the procedures and our condition weren’t very convincing, as if the team itself wasn’t very sure of them.

Diagnosis: Appendicitis

The pediatric surgeon Professor İrfan Serdar Arda is a wonderful doctor; no matter how much you thank him, it’s not enough. My son was in pain, we went to the Etlik city hospital — 4 doctors (supposedly doctors) couldn’t figure it out. I found Professor İrfan online and we went to him right away. The appendix had already burst, and they took him in for emergency surgery. Thank God, as a result of a very good operation my son is now perfectly fine. We stayed on the 3rd floor for two nights, the nurses were very friendly and attentive. There was especially a nurse Havva — she communicated so well with my son, calmed him during blood draws and catheter insertion, and found the hard-to-locate vein on the first try. The rooms are clean and have a hotel atmosphere. Across from us was a man with colored eyes — if I’m not mistaken, Osman. Very attentive and friendly, and a huge thank-you to him from here too.

However, I cannot say the same about the administrative staff at the desk at the entrance on the left. Attention and friendliness — almost zero.

To Professor İrfan and the staff of the 3rd floor — 5 stars and a huge thank-you.

Diagnosis: Coronary artery bypass grafting

I am a Canadian citizen who recently moved to Ankara. On April 3 I felt chest pains, a friend brought us here, and I immediately underwent a thorough examination, including angiography and angioplasty, and it was determined that I urgently needed bypass surgery (April 10). The operation went without problems, but the postoperative care I received was simply wonderful. These people are very compassionate and caring, even though I barely speak Turkish. The treatment and care I received are much better than what I am used to in Canada. Here are the names of the wonderful staff who took care of me: Dr. Eren and his team (surgery), and for postoperative care these people are amazing, extremely caring and compassionate, on the 6th floor: Mücahit, Gözde, Sultan, Ayşe Nur, Aziz, Mete, Mehmet, Seda, Deniz, Buse, Sena, and Moya from the international office — I thank each of the above and everyone else who cared for me. You are the best!
