Hip Replacement Surgery at the Galeazzi Institute
For 60 years, the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute has maintained its leadership in Italy in terms of quantity and quality of hip arthroplasty:
- Doctors perform 2,400 surgeries annually with the highest success rate in the country – over 90%;
- Orthopedists perform 75% of all partial or complete replacements of unsuitable or worn prostheses in the country;
- surgeons use only advanced minimally invasive techniques with maximum tissue and bone preservation; advanced durable prostheses made of biocompatible materials;
- before surgery, orthopedists perform digital preoperative planning, which allows to choose the most suitable artificial prosthesis and ensure rapid rehabilitation.
Patients with standard cases are usually discharged 2-3 days after surgery. Elderly patients with concomitant diseases, with complex cases, who come from other countries, undergo rehabilitation in a hospital with the help of physiotherapists for 2-3 weeks.
In difficult cases (congenital dislocations, malformations, outcomes of growth diseases, post-traumatic or rheumatic arthrosis), special individual prostheses are used. Doctors replace an unsuitable prosthesis and eliminate infections, fractures, and other complications associated with unsuccessful previous prosthetics in patients of any age.
Endoprosthesis of the knee joint at the Galeazzi Institute
Every year in Galeazzi, surgeons perform 2,460 knee replacement surgeries, including patients with serious comorbidities. Surgeons get good results thanks to:
- careful planning of the operation based on 3D visualization of the joint;
- minimally invasive surgical techniques;
- early rehabilitation in a modern and well-equipped department.
Orthopedists perform operations through small incisions, which minimizes surgical trauma and reduces rehabilitation time. The patient is discharged 2-5 days after the intervention. He is immediately allowed full weight bearing on the operated limb.
Pediatric Orthopedics at the Galeazzi Institute
The Galeazzi Institute accepts children and adolescents for treatment. With the help of surgical methods, specialists treat:

Center of Excellence for Galiazzi Spine Surgery
Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi is one of 19 clinics in Europe accredited by the European Spine Society as a Center of Excellence. Galiazzi uses innovative surgical techniques to treat:

Hello, I have serious scoliosis and some other health problems. Scoliosis should be operated on and preferably as soon as possible since it will only get worse … In Ukraine, they refused to operate because there was a very big risk. Poland also refused. After a long search, the clinic Galeazzi was finally told to come for a detailed consultation. The consultation was successful, everything seems to be positive, I am waiting for a final decision from them!

What diseases of the spine are treated in Galeazzi?
