One of the Samsun branch’s advantages is the experience of its surgical team. Ophthalmologist Duriye İlbağ has been working in the profession for around 30 years and has performed more than 15,000 surgical procedures. She specializes in cataract surgery, refractive and oculoplastic procedures, and the treatment of corneal diseases and strabismus.

Modern technologies at Dunyagoz Samsun Hospital
For the correction of myopia and astigmatism, the network’s clinics use SMILE technology Pro on the Zeiss VisuMax system. A femtosecond laser creates a thin disc of tissue, called a lenticule, inside the cornea. It is removed through an incision of approximately 2 mm, without creating a large corneal flap as in conventional LASIK. This allows the cornea to retain greater mechanical stability, reduces the risk of postoperative dry eye syndrome and shortens the recovery period. The method is particularly suitable for patients with thin corneas, athletes and people whose work involves an increased risk of eye injury.
For the treatment of the dry form of age-related macular degeneration, Dünyagöz uses the Valeda system — the first treatment method for this condition in Europe to receive approval in 2018. The course consists of 9 painless light-therapy sessions lasting approximately 5 minutes each over three weeks. The method helps slow vision deterioration and reduce the volume of drusen, deposits beneath the retina associated with disease progression. Previously, such results could not be achieved with non-drug treatment.
During cataract surgery, Dunyagoz uses the LENSAR femtosecond laser, which performs the incision and softens the cloudy lens with computer-assisted precision. This reduces the strain on the eye’s structures during surgery and makes the outcome more predictable, which is especially important when selecting multifocal lenses.

I had astigmatism of more than 2.0 diopters. I underwent LASIK laser surgery at Samsun Dünya Göz Hospital, performed by Dr Sezer Özkan. For the first two or three hours, there was pain, discomfort and burning. But when I woke up the next morning, I really thought: “So this is what the world looks like!” I wish everyone who has the opportunity could experience this comfort.

We went to Dünyagöz Samsun Hospital for a general eye examination for our daughter. Thanks to the highly professional opinion, detailed assessment and courteous approach of Associate Professor Dr Selim Demir, we decided to proceed with SMILE treatment without hesitation. It was also very convenient for us that the treatment was performed on the same day.
Our daughter’s vision was −5.50 before treatment and improved to −0.25 afterwards. In her own words: “It feels as if my eyes have been born again.” 😊 As a family, we are very happy with this significant improvement in her vision and with the result. We were also delighted that there were no complications after treatment.

I am 39 years old. I started wearing glasses at the age of three, and I used contact lenses from the age of 18. I visited Dr Düriye İlbağ at Samsun Dünya Göz only for an examination and to get a prescription for lenses.
During the examination, the doctor showed incredible attention and care, and thanks to her recommendations I decided to have surgery that same day. The surgery lasted only about 15 minutes, was painless, and I can say that I felt as if I had been born again.
If I had known the result would be this good, I would not have waited so long. All my fears and worries were in vain.
After about two hours of watery eyes, I returned to my normal life. On the second day, there were no signs of surgery, and I began to see everything clearly.
Although the doctor did not raise my expectations, I can now see clearly both in the distance and close up. Without lenses or glasses, I could barely see anything on my phone, but now, thankfully, that problem is gone.

Dr Sezer performed laser surgery on me 9 days ago. Two days before the surgery, I came for an examination and consultation.
I had myopia and wore glasses, but I wanted to get rid of them. Dr Sezer explained very kindly and clearly that laser surgery was suitable for my eyes.
The surgery lasted 10 minutes and was painless. I wore protective glasses on the day of the surgery and at night. On the first day, I used the drops every hour. The burning was strong on the first day, but then almost disappeared.
Lubricating drops must be used for three months. Water must not get into the eyes for five days.
My vision was slightly blurred, but not enough to interfere with everyday activities. The doctor said this condition could last for another one or two months.
I am pleased with the attention and kindness of the hospital staff and Dr Sezer. I will update my review depending on my recovery.
Update: Four months have passed since the surgery. The dryness persists, and I have not been able to stop using the drops completely. I also had one severe infection. I contacted the doctor, and it cleared up thanks to the prescribed drops.
Seeing without glasses is pleasant, but I would like to note that there were also these negative aspects.

I was very frightened and worried, but I decided to undergo SMILE laser surgery. On recommendation, I had the surgery with Sezer Özkan for 80,000 lira.
The surgery was practically painless. After the surgery, I took the prescribed drops and went straight to sleep — I slept for about 12 hours.
If you do not sleep, burning begins about an hour after the surgery and becomes stronger, so I advise getting home as quickly as possible, taking Parol and sleeping as long as you can.
Your eyes will be very sensitive to light, so avoid light whenever possible. After a day, the pain, discomfort and blurred vision disappear.

I came here for an eye examination and wanted a consultation about laser vision correction.
Everything was well organized, and the staff were friendly and experienced. The equipment was modern. The doctor examined me, took time for the consultation and also explained the possible risks.
I am very pleased 👍
However, after the examination, the equipment was not wiped or disinfected before the next patient was seen. The cleanliness of the toilets could also have been better.
The examination cost 1,200 Turkish lira as of July 2023.
For hyperopia, laser correction apparently was not possible. The alternative offered seemed too risky to me.
