Diagnosis: Herniated discs, spinal stenosis

I would like to express my deep gratitude and respect to the staff of Academic Hospital in Istanbul for the professionalism, sensitivity and care with which the operation for my mother was organized.

Hospital: As soon as you enter the clinic you can feel the high level of organization and cleanliness. All rooms are equipped with modern medical technologies, creating a feeling of confidence and security. The ease of use of the infrastructure left an extremely positive impression.

Doctor: Words of boundless gratitude I address personally to Prof. Dr. Murat Bezer. His high qualifications and experience, as well as the ability to build a trusting relationship with the patient, made this complex operation possible. He always took the time to explain all the nuances of the procedure and reassure us. The doctor visited my mother all postoperative days, including weekends, which was especially valuable, given the complexity of the operation. I am immensely glad that I entrusted the treatment of my mother to Dr. Murat Bezer. With all sincerity I recommend this doctor to everyone with a high level of professionalism.

Attendants: Nurses and junior medical staff are very attentive and caring. It is important to note that they paid attention to the smallest details, trying to make the recovery period after the operation easier for my mother. Postoperative care is organized at a high level.

 Consultants and Assistants: I especially want to highlight the work of Natalia, thanks to which we met Prof. Dr. Murat BEZER and Academic Hospital. Natalia, who was with us in online contact 24/7 and accompanied us with all sensitivity on all possible questions from the moment of the first consultation, during the stay in the clinic and after the stay in the hospital.

Many thanks also to Mihriban, without whom our stay at the clinic would have been much more difficult.

Natalia and Mihriban solved all organizational issues and were always ready to help. Their support has been a real gift to our family. In general, our experience at Academic Hospital left only positive impressions. This is a place where medical science is combined with sincere care for the patient. We are grateful to everyone who took part in the treatment of my mother, and we can confidently recommend this clinic to others.

Diagnosis: Plastic surgery

Pain management here does not meet the standard that patients from the US are used to. Tramadol is not enough after major surgery. The air conditioning either didn’t work or wasn’t there at all. There were also far too few English-speaking staff, despite the large number of English-speaking patients in the hospital.
I’m not sure what was worse: suffering in a room that felt like a sauna and hoping to pass out from the heat just to forget the pain for a moment, going without proper pain relief, or being woken at 4:30 a.m. by loud singing over a loudspeaker outside.
In the US, a broken arm or a major elective surgery isn’t treated with ibuprofen alone. My advice is to bring your own painkillers or be prepared to tough it out.
I was bleeding heavily, yet the bed linens were rarely changed, even though the staff saw it and saw that I had to get up. I wish the bed had been changed more often.
The nurses were kind and tried to help, even when they didn’t speak English. The food was okay. The only drinks offered were water or tea. Had I known there was a fridge in the room, I would have brought juice with me.

Diagnosis: CT angiography

Hello. I called the hospital to book my wife in for a CT angiography. Ms. Gonca turned out to be a wonderful member of staff — she helped us a great deal and welcomed us at the hospital. I have no complaints about the price; the scan was done at a genuinely very reasonable cost. Ms. Elif from the radiology department was also attentive and gave us the help we needed.
However, the staff member who carried out the procedure made a mistake, the consequences of which can be seen on my wife’s arm in the additional photo. The reception staff do everything they can to attract and serve patients, but the technical team performs very poorly. In my view, this points to insufficient oversight by management.
At the hospital I read the chief physician’s success story, and I’d like to offer a small piece of advice. I hope she reads the reviews. There’s a saying: “A customer comes in alone but leaves with others.” Grasp its meaning and you can draw important conclusions. Best regards.

Diagnosis: Inpatient treatment

Overall, the hospital deserves a positive rating. It looks modern and makes a good impression. However, in a medical facility cleanliness is of the utmost importance, so I’m lowering my rating by two points.

The bed linen on the patient’s bed was in very poor condition and did not look clean enough. I’ve attached photos that clearly show this.

I hope the hospital management will address this issue and keep a closer eye on matters of cleanliness and hygiene.

This hospital is simply wonderful.
I had surgery here and I can’t find a single fault. Every member of staff I dealt with was incredibly caring and attentive. They did everything they could to keep the patient comfortable.
The pain relief was perfectly managed. Everything reflected great care and a high level of organisation. I’ve been to various hospitals in Istanbul for aesthetic surgery, and this clinic is definitely the best for both pre- and post-operative care.
The modern equipment and the beautiful hospital building are especially worth mentioning. My only regret is that I never learned the names of the nurses who looked after me.
Thank you so much, and I hope to see you again soon. ❤️

Diagnosis: Rhinoplasty

I had a rhinoplasty at Academic Hospital. From the moment I returned to my room, the nurses took wonderful care of me. I’d especially like to thank nurses Nuket and Abdullah. I never once had to use the call button — my entire hospital stay was well organised and went very smoothly.
The food, however, definitely needs rethinking. After a rhinoplasty, hot, spicy and hard food shouldn’t be served. Unfortunately, it affected my bleeding.
Although the staff knew I had a companion with me, at 6:30 a.m. only one breakfast was brought to the room. The second arrived only two hours after we asked. The lack of vegetarian options is another shortcoming.
The chief physician’s daily rounds, accompanied by about ten people, struck me as pointless. It felt as though they were simply obliged to ask whether everything was fine. Perhaps it would have been better to pay more attention to patients’ comments and to how staff are treated within the hospital.
I’d also have appreciated more attentiveness during the anaesthesiologist’s consultation. A quick chat before surgery doesn’t help a patient feel reassured. I had questions about a previous infection, and I literally had to stop the doctor, who was in a hurry to leave the room.

Diagnosis: Hair transplant

I’ve just had a hair transplant at Academic Hospital. Everything was organised very professionally. I was safely driven from the airport to the hotel, from the hotel to the hospital and back again.
The procedure itself was more painful than I’d expected, but the interpreter Nilda was very kind, supported me and helped me get through the difficult moments.
Since the operation they have continued to look after me and give detailed advice on recovering from the transplant.
It’s still too early to talk about the final result, but I’m confident it will be good.
All in all, it was a great experience, well worth both the time and the cost. I especially recommend Nilda — she is very kind, caring and excellent at her job.

I had an amazing experience with the plastic surgeon Dr. Selcuk Yazan. I’m 45 and decided to have an eyelid lift.
From the very start, Lela from the doctor’s team was incredibly helpful. She communicated with me over WhatsApp, arranged the consultation date and my appointment with the doctor. After the consultation, we decided to go ahead with the surgery.
Before the operation you’re given a private suite where all your personal belongings, phone and clothes are kept. The room is locked during the procedure.
Afterwards, a nurse stays close by at all times, applying cold every 15 minutes and giving a cooling facial massage.
The hospital is very beautiful and clean. The very next day you can go home and recover in comfort.
I now feel much better and look ten years younger.

I’m incredibly happy and satisfied with the result. Less than 24 hours after the operation, I felt enormous relief.
As soon as the procedure was over, I walked out of the operating room on my own two feet, and two hours later I was already running in the rain.
The whole package of services from Istanbul Vita was top-notch. I’d like to thank the hospital staff once again for the procedure and the care throughout the entire operation.
I’d especially like to mention the extra services: the hotel accommodation and a personal driver throughout my stay.
My medical consultant Carmen was impeccably professional. For the quality of her attention and service, she deserves the title of international medical representative.
I recommend Istanbul Vita 110%. I’m completely satisfied with the result and very grateful to the whole team.

Diagnosis: Comprehensive examination

If you’re a foreign patient or coming for aesthetic procedures, the attention and care may seem good.
My husband and I came to this hospital for a check-up. There’s a serious lack of coordination among the staff.
Our doctor ordered additional tests and an ultrasound. In the end, an ordinary check-up day turned into a real ordeal.
First we gave blood and urine samples, then we were scheduled for an abdominal ultrasound. It turned out the exam required a full bladder. But since the urine sample had already been taken, we had to wait for hours to fill the bladder again.
Who was supposed to tell us this in advance? Not one staff member considered it their responsibility. It felt as if no one took ownership.
The staff are very good at passing responsibility onto one another and brushing patients off.

More than 80% of surgical interventions are performed using sparing minimally invasive techniques: vertebroplasty, laser nucleoplasty, laparoscopic laminectomy, and microdiscectomy. Today it is the safest and most effective technology. The rehabilitation period after these operations is much faster than with traditional ones.

The leading neurosurgeon of Turkey, Professor Murat Bezer, operates in the hospital. Member of many prestigious world societies and associations of orthopedic surgeons, author of scientific papers. The doctor performs joint arthroplasty, surgery for scoliosis, kyphosis, intervertebral hernia, and fractures. Particularly outstanding results of the doctor are associated with surgery for scoliosis in children. The professor’s work experience is 19 years.

What treatment for aseptic necrosis of the femoral head is provided in the hospital?

Treatment of aseptic necrosis of the femoral headAseptic necrosis of the femoral head (avascular necrosis, osteonecrosis) is a serious pathology of the hip joint caused by impaired blood circulation in the femoral head. It causes the death of bone tissue and the destruction of the joint.

The disease can develop gradually or rapidly.

It manifests itself in the form of pain in the hip area and limited joint mobility.

The disease is caused by many factors such as bone fractures, joint displacement, alcoholism, steroid use, cancer, atherosclerosis, HIV, autoimmune diseases, and others.

In 30% of cases, the exact cause cannot be established.

Pathological changes are conditionally divided into 5 stages. In the later stages, a person has complete destruction of the joints, which leads to disability.

In addition to the hip region, avascular necrosis can affect the joints of other regions: shoulder, ankle, and knee.

To diagnose the disease in the medical center, radiography, MRI, CT, osteoscintigraphy are used.

Depending on the progression of the disease, hospital doctors apply:

  • hip replacement;
  • osteotomy;
  • sparing arthroscopy;
  • stem cell treatment;
  • basic decompression;
  • bone grafting.

With complete destruction of the joint, arthroplasty is indicated.

Clinic surgeons use high-quality prostheses. The operation goes without complications. Positive results were recorded in more than 96% of patients.
