Pacemaker Implantation in Spain

Depending on the indications, permanent or temporary pacemakers are implanted.

A temporary pacemaker is inserted into the heart chamber through blood vessels. It is placed in a portable pouch on the patient's belt.
If the disturbances are persistent or recur repeatedly, permanent pacemaker implantation is prescribed. The device is only a few centimeters in size. It is attached in the same way as a temporary pacemaker, through large veins into the heart chamber.
The device constantly analyzes signals from heart impulses. Depending on the results, the device either starts working or goes into standby mode.

There are 1, 2, and 3-chamber artificial pacemakers, depending on the number of heart chambers stimulated.

Pacemaker implantation in Spain is performed for the following indications:

Slow (constant or paroxysmal) heart rhythm
Conduction block at different levels of the heart's conduction system
Tachyarrhythmias – in complex treatment of accelerated rhythms when high doses of rhythm-slowing and pathological activity-suppressing drugs are required.

There are certain rules to follow for people with implanted pacemakers. The optimal option would be to wear a bracelet or medallion indicating that the owner has a pacemaker.

It is necessary to notify security services using metal detectors, for example, at airports.
Security devices in stores are safe for such patients, provided that their time spent near them is minimized.
Wearing a mobile phone in the left breast pocket is not recommended.
Magnetic resonance imaging is prohibited for such patients.
