Diagnosis: Treatment of spinal hernia

I had my hernia treated at Sheba Medical Center. I am terribly afraid of all kinds of surgeries and anesthesia, so the doctor suggested doing just a few shots in my back to remove the nucleus of the disc and “patch” it up a bit. I had the nucleus removed with a laser and then had a substance injected to strengthen the cartilage. Now I feel healthy and 10 years younger!

Diagnosis: Treatment of spinal hernia

I was treated by Dr. Lidar Zvi. A three-week course of conservative therapy for a cervical hernia cost $11,000, which included orthokine therapy, medications, physical procedures and individual sessions with a rehabilitator. The pain disappeared and I was able to return to normal life.

Diagnosis: consultation

I came to Alon Friedlander on the recommendation of a herniated disc. He examined me thoroughly and said it was not yet time for surgery. When the situation worsens and I can’t walk more than 50-100 meters, I will go to him for surgery. Rarely does a surgeon not recommend surgery immediately. It’s worth every penny, and what’s more, the insurance company covers the significant costs of the visit.

Diagnosis: spine surgery

I met with several spinal surgeons before coming to Dr. Friedlander. Unlike them, he doesn’t rush you into surgery and sends you to try different treatments before deciding on surgery. He is wise and very experienced. He is a nice person. In addition to being a great consultant, he is a great surgeon. I consulted with him and had surgery with him and it was successful in every way.

Spinal hernia treatment in Israel: advanced technologies and maximum efficiency

Leading neurosurgeons and orthopedists perform spinal hernia treatment in Israel. Every year, thousands of patients worldwide, including famous politicians, musicians, actors, and athletes, turn to them.

Israeli doctors, in 80% of cases, with the help of innovative developments in conservative therapy, eliminate pathology without surgical intervention. The latest methods are used to treat intervertebral hernia in Israel.

Why is Israel the best destination for spinal herniated disc treatment?

spinal herniated disc treatmentAmong the benefits of treatment in the country:

  1. Doctors maximize the possibilities of conservative treatment of intervertebral hernia in Israel. Surgical intervention is performed if other options have been exhausted. The experience of doctors at the Horev Medical Center in Haifa confirms that more than 90% of patients can get rid of back pain with the help of physiotherapy and the Feldenkraiz exercise system in combination with drug treatment.
  2. Minor invasive surgery. Neurosurgeons use microsurgical and endoscopic methods of removal through minimal incisions and punctures up to 2 cm.
  3. High-precision spinal surgery. In Israel, neurosurgeons perform unique interventions using high-precision equipment according to the author’s methods. For example, Renaissance’s robotic system allows perfect accuracy in installing spinal implants.
  4. Treatment of spinal hernia in Israel provides a comprehensive approach – examination, therapy, and rehabilitation- allowing maximum results. Specialists of the Assuta Ashdod Clinic conduct rehabilitation using advanced technologies that will enable patients to return to their everyday lives after complex interventions quickly.

According to the summary data of clinics, the success rate of surgical treatment of spinal hernia in Israel exceeds 99%.

Intervertebral hernia: why does it occur and how does it manifest itself?

According to the WHO, over 80% of people on the planet feel back pain of varying intensity. One of the causes is intervertebral hernia. This is a disease of the musculoskeletal system in which part of the intervertebral disc protrudes beyond the boundaries of the vertebrae and squeezes the nerve structures in the spinal canal. Pathology often develops in the lumbosacral and cervical spine due to heavy loads.

Intervertebral herniaSymptoms of intervertebral hernia depend on its localization and the degree of compression of nerve structures. The main ones include:

  • back pain – acute or chronic, may increase with movement;
  • numbness, tingling, burning in the area of the affected nerve;
  • loss of sensation in one or both limbs;
  • weakness, decreased volume or strength of movement in the limb;
  • gait disturbance;
  • muscle paresis or paralysis;
  • violation of urination, defecation, and sexual function.

Treatment of intervertebral hernia in Israel has a good prognosis with timely referral to specialists and further prevention.

Hernia diagnosis in Israel

Diagnosis of spinal hernia in IsraelTreatment of intervertebral hernia in Israel is prescribed after a comprehensive examination, which takes 1-2 days. During consultation and clinical examination of the neurosurgeon, the patient may be assigned additional methods of research to confirm the diagnosis:

  1. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Visualizes the narrowing of the spinal canal caused by the pathology.
  2. Radiography. Appointed to rule out other causes of back pain. Uses harmless minimal doses of radiation.
  3. Electromyography (EMG). Measure muscle response, which shows the degree of electrical activity and identifies nerve endings affected.
  4. Laboratory tests. General and biochemical tests of blood and urine. Determining the general state of health is necessary to exclude concomitant pathologies.

In special cases, patients are assigned a myelogram – a study of the bone marrow. It allows you to detect pathological changes that can disturb the patient, along with hernias and protrusions.

After diagnosis, each patient develops a scheme of treatment and rehabilitation of spinal hernia in Israel, a group of narrow specialists.

Spinal hernia treatment in Israel: advanced technologies

Minor invasive treatment of intervertebral hernia in Israel is carried out using the O-arm X-ray unit. It creates a three-dimensional image of the damaged area. It allows the doctor to track his movements and the location of tools with an accuracy of up to a millimeter. This guarantees the procedure’s success and gives a good prognosis for recovery.

Among the main surgical methods of intervertebral hernia treatment in Israel:

  1. DiskectomyDiskectomy. Complete or partial removal of the disc through an incision in the back. The surgeon replaces the intervertebral disc with an implant (prosthetics) if necessary. Surgeons use a special B-Twin sliding implant that increases the distance between the vertebrae to reduce stress on the discs.
  2. Microdiscectomy. Removal of a disc through a minimal incision under the control of a microscope. This is a high-tech procedure that is most common in the treatment of spinal herniated discs in Israel.
  3. Endoscopic discectomy. The intervention is performed through a puncture using an endoscope – a flexible optical device. It provides a clear image of the operating field without making an extensive surgical incision.
  4. Laser therapy. It is indicated for hernias up to 6 mm in size. During the procedure, the doctor inserts a special needle into the patient’s back, through which laser radiation passes. The nucleus of the disc is vaporized, and it decreases in size.
  5. Spinal stabilization. They were directed at fixing the discs with the help of unique support systems.

After treatment of intervertebral hernia in Israel, 93% have fully restored spine mobility.

Non-surgical methods of spinal hernia treatment in Israel

The leading clinics in Israel apply progressive techniques that are painless alternatives to surgery on the spine. Such hernia treatment in Israel is in demand among patients who are not ready for surgical intervention or have several contraindications. At the Beilinson Medical Center in Tel Aviv, these procedures are performed by world-class spinal surgeons:

  1. Non-surgical DiskFX procedureNon-surgical DiskFX procedure. The intervention is performed through a catheter under video monitoring. During the procedure, the surgeon removes the disc’s affected part and shrinks the disc’s outer part. The technique is authored by the legendary neurosurgeon Ilya Pekarsky.
  2. Percutaneous nucleoplasty. A half-hour procedure in which the doctor inserts a puncture needle into the cavity of the damaged disc and applies cold plasma.
  3. Multifunctional electrode treatment (PASHA). This is a unique and 100% effective method of therapy. The procedure aims to block the nerve endings that are responsible for causing back pain.
  4. Orthokine therapy. The use of vaccines based on serum proteins that are made from the patient’s blood. The finished drug is injected directly into the location of the hernia.

Non-surgical spinal hernia treatment methods in Israel provide high professionalism of neurosurgeons and high-precision equipment.

Spinal hernia treatment methods in Israel, introduced in 2023

Robotic surgeryNeurosurgeons in Israel are working to improve technologies for the treatment of spinal herniation. Among the latest developments by Israeli specialists are:

  1. Robotic surgery using the Mazor robotic surgeon. The system allows the performing of 3D spine images, planning the course of intervention, and controlling the precise prosthesis installation. Clinical trials have shown that robotic spinal hernia treatment in Israel is highly accurate and safe.
  2. TOPS spinal implants. A full-fledged replacement for damaged intervertebral discs. They allow the preservation of the spine’s flexibility, which is proved by the results of clinical trials.

Foreign patients have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials. For example, using innovative microsurgical and laser technologies, it is possible to undergo hernia treatment in Israel at Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva and Elisha Clinic in Haifa.
