What kind of glaucoma treatment is offered in Veni Vidi?
In Veni Vidi, glaucoma is treated by an experienced ophthalmologist Kadir Colakoglu.
In the clinic, the following types of treatment are available to patients to reduce IOP:
- Trabeculectomy is the “gold standard” for glaucoma surgery, especially at an advanced stage of the disease. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia for 1 hour. According to the statistics of the clinic, the successful outcome of the operation is 60-80% while IOP can be controlled for 5 years.
- Glaucoma surgery with the addition of an EX-PRESS shunt. It is one of the options for trabeculectomy, during which the doctor inserts a small metal shunt into the wall of the eye. The advantage of the procedure is the rapid restoration of vision and the absence of inflammation.
- GATT operation. It is performed using micro-incisions (1 mm) on the cornea. The doctor cuts the trabecular meshwork and opens some channels. The main advantage is access to the entire drainage system of the eye. This gives a higher chance of a successful outcome of the operation. The procedure is performed under anesthesia with eye drops.
How is cataract treatment performed at Veni Vidi Clinic?
Before the operation, the patient undergoes diagnostics, which includes many tests and laboratory tests. Ophthalmologists of Veni Vidi mainly use the FAKO method, a cataract phacoemulsification. During the intervention, the doctor acts with ultrasound on the affected lens, after which, through one puncture, he inserts an expandable intraocular lens.
The whole procedure lasts up to half an hour and is performed under a microscope. Patients report improved vision immediately after surgery. If necessary, after a few days, surgery is performed on the second eye.
The effectiveness of the operation is due to the choice of the lens and the technology of its placement in the eyeball. In Veni Vidi, patients are offered the following options for intraocular lenses:
- With one focus – monofocal. A cost-effective option. The patient will be able to see distant objects normally but will need to wear glasses to read or work on a computer.
- With two focus points – bifocal. The patient will see well near and far, but without special glasses, objects at a distance of 2 cm – 40 cm will be blurry.
- With three focus points – trifocal. With this lens option, a person will no longer need glasses. The only drawback is the high price.
In Veni Vidi, cataract treatment is carried out with the implantation of mainly trifocal lenses. Doctors have performed more than 120,000 surgeries. According to the clinic, the success rate of the procedure exceeds 99%.
How is keratoplasty performed at Veni Vidi Clinic?
- keratoconus – protrusion of the cornea outward in the form of a cone;

- With complete damage to the cornea, a penetrating transplantation is performed under general anesthesia.
- If the anterior part of the cornea (keratoconus) is affected, deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) is performed. Doctors may use local or general anesthesia.
- In case of damage to the posterior part of the cornea, posterior lamellar keratoplasty (PLK) is performed. With this intervention, there is no seam, therefore, in the future, a person does not develop astigmatism.
