To restore joints, he uses the most advanced orthopedic technologies, in particular, the “personal selection” method: based on the results of CT or MRI, an artificial joint is created that exactly copies the anatomical structure of the patient’s joint. Before the patient is hospitalized, accurate measurements are taken and an operation plan is drawn up. For this, a computer program is used that models the anatomical structure of the joint in three-dimensional space. With its help, you can perform operations for the complete or partial restoration of the joints. Dr. Benkovic is one of the pioneers in this field.

Diagnosis: Endoprosthetics of the hip joint

Ichilov is a huge medical center with the latest equipment, where the professionals of their craft work, who are ready to help even in the most difficult situation. In this hospital, I was replaced by four joints, but during the preparation and during these operations, the doctors found serious problems that interfered with the implementation of almost every endoprosthesis. However, every time the doctors of this hospital found a solution to the problem and all operations were performed without any complications. I am very glad that I chose this particular hospital and my doctor Professor Aaron Menachem who operated me on all four times.

Just got back from Israel where I had a hip replacement. For now, I walk with crutches, but soon, I think, I will do without them. I want to thank Dr. Menachem for the excellent work. The Assuta Clinic is a very modern, comfortable single room, the level of a hotel.

Diagnosis: Endoprosthetics of the hip joint

I suffered for a long time with a hip joint. The orthopedist said – to operate. The husband suggested not to get involved with quotas and other bureaucracy, but to be operated on in Israel. We made an agreement with Assuta, and a week later I was already operated on. After another 2 weeks, I returned home with a new joint.

Diagnosis: Endoprosthetics of the hip joint

I am 54 years old and overweight. I recently started having problems with my hip joint. I did an MRI – and it turned out that the joint was almost destroyed, it had to be replaced. The operation was performed in Assuta, Israel, operated by Dr. Menachem. The very next day I started walking with a walker, a week later I switched to a cane with legs. Now six months have passed – I walk normally, I forgot about the pain.

Diagnosis: Endoprosthetics of the hip joint

My mom broke her hip. Our doctors refused to operate on her because of her age (85 years). But our family decided to try their luck abroad. And happiness smiled at us in Israel. In Assuta, my mother was offered to replace the joint. The operation was performed under epidural anesthesia. It took several months to recover. Now grandma goes outside and even goes shopping a little. In general, the replacement of the hip joint in Israel saved her.

Diagnosis: Endoprosthetics of the hip joint

I replaced a joint in Russia under a quota, but unsuccessfully. After that, I could neither sit nor walk. I had to look for a place where they can remake the prosthesis. I chose Assuta because there are many revision arthroplasty surgeries performed there. They did it quickly and efficiently, now I’m finally walking normally.

Endoprosthetics of the hip joint in Israel

hip arthroplasty in Israel

One of the most popular types of orthopedic treatment in Israel among foreign patients is hip replacement. According to the World Health Organization, 80% of people in the world suffer from cartilage erosion. The disease can affect people of all ages, including young people. Conservative treatment can only reduce pain symptoms, but it is not able to stop the progression of erosion. To restore the functionality of the limbs and save a person from pain, arthroplasty of the hip joints in Israel is capable of.

This procedure has been performed in Israel for over 45 years. During this time, the success rate increased to 40%.

According to the general statistics of medical institutions, over 90% of people who underwent hip replacement surgery in Israel are satisfied with its results. Patients with an artificial joint lead a normal life, including sports.

Hip Replacement in Israel: Benefits

The use of computer navigation in hip replacement

Surgeons perform over 4,000 hip replacement procedures annually in Israel.

Patients highlight the following advantages of Israeli hospitals:

  1. The use of minimally invasive techniques reduces the duration of the rehabilitation period significantly.
  2. Application of computer navigation and simulation for the surgeon’s most accurate movements.
  3. Robotic interventions using MAKOplasty surgical units (made in the USA) are specially designed for such procedures. They allow surgeons to grind bone for implant placement precisely.
  4. The treatment is carried out according to an individual protocol, which is developed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors.
  5. A third of the procedures are revision operations, during which Israeli doctors often have to correct the mistakes of colleagues from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including Kazakhstan.
  6. Israeli orthopedists use high-quality implants from well-known manufacturers, which are highly functional and provide a person with habitual mobility.
  7. Hip arthroplasty in Israel provides for recovery under the guidance of rehabilitation specialists. The program includes a set of specially designed exercises and training on virtual reality devices.
  8. Availability of Russian-speaking staff.
  9. All Israeli hospitals are certified and have an international license, which guarantees a high quality of medical care and patient safety.

According to the summary data of Israeli clinics, in almost 100% of cases, doctors manage to avoid serious postoperative complications in patients.

Endoprosthetics of the hip joint in Israel: indications

Indications for hip arthroplasty in IsraelIsraeli experts consider hip replacement surgery as a last resort when all the possibilities of conservative treatment, including physiotherapy, cease to work.

The following factors play a decisive role in the decision to replace a joint for an orthopedist:

  • the severity of the pain syndrome;
  • functional disorders;
  • deformation changes in the joint;
  • age and the presence of concomitant diseases in the patient.

Among the indications for hip arthroplasty in Israel:

  1. Progressive coxarthrosis with dystrophic changes in cartilaginous tissues is observed in elderly people.
  2. Rheumatoid and infectious arthritis.
  3. Injuries to which older patients with low bone mineralization are susceptible, including fractures of the femoral neck. This is dangerous due to the possible occurrence of a necrotic process. It may appear due to displacement of the femoral head. Hip fracture is among the most common causes of hip arthroplasty in Israel.
  4. Malignant tumors of the bones or joint capsule.
  5. Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic connective tissue pathology that affects the intervertebral joints. It develops in people with a genetic predisposition; it can also have an infectious origin.
  6. Aseptic necrosis of the femoral head (osteonecrosis) – destruction of the hip joint due to loss or reduction of blood supply. When blood supply is disturbed, there is a risk of necrosis because the bone loses proper nutrition and eventually acquires a spongy texture.
  7. Articular arthrosis (osteoarthritis) is a degenerative change in which cartilage is completely destroyed. In the last stages of osteoarthritis, joint plastic is the only type of treatment.

Doctors may also recommend hip replacement surgery in Israel for persistent hip pain that is not relieved by pain medication.

Hip replacement in Israel is possible after diagnosis

Preoperative diagnosis before hip replacement

Hip replacement surgery in Israel includes preoperative diagnostics, which patients undergo according to an individual schedule in one day. The mandatory program includes examinations by an orthopedist, therapist and narrow specialists (if pathology is suspected or detected).

Endoprosthetics of the hip joint in Israel provides for a set of preliminary examinations:

  • coagulogram – to exclude bleeding during the procedure;
  • endoscopic examination – to study complex areas of the joint, it is carried out mainly when planning a minimally invasive operation;
  • X-ray of the affected joint – to visualize the operated area;
  • test for sensitivity to anesthesia – to determine the tactics of anesthesia: general or epidural;
  • laboratory blood tests.

For some patients, the surgeon additionally prescribes MRI and CT.

Hip replacement surgery in Israel: methods

Endoprosthetics by AMIS methodHip replacement surgery in Israel involves the following steps:

  • opening of the joint by an orthopedist;
  • partial removal of damaged bone tissue;
  • installation on previously prepared surfaces of the bones of the endoprosthesis.

After the diagnosis, Israeli surgeons plan the procedure using a 3D imaging system. The doctor selects the required size, shape and position of the prosthesis, taking into account the structural features of the patient’s femur.

The implant completely repeats the shape of the joint.

The intervention takes 1-2 hours under general (in some cases combined) anesthesia.

Carrying out technologies:

  1. Traditional hip replacement. The doctor makes an incision of 20-25 cm, through which the prosthesis is installed. The cost of such a procedure is lower than that of other technologies. Among the shortcomings, one can single out a more prolonged recovery of the patient and a visible scar.
  2. Minimally invasive prosthetics. It involves carrying out all manipulations through a small incision (up to 5-8 cm). The postoperative period is faster.
  3. Endoprosthetics using the AMIS method (operation “anterior access”). During the intervention, the orthopedist makes an incision of up to 10 cm on the front of the thigh, pushes the tissues surrounding the joint apart and installs the implant.

The main advantages of this technique:

  • small blood loss;
  • the integrity of muscles and tendons is maintained;
  • reduced risk of venous thrombosis;
  • the ability to perform joint replacement in patients with poor health who are contraindicated in major surgical operations;
  • rehabilitation takes 2 weeks and is less painful than after an open intervention, in which damage to healthy tissues is possible.
  1. Robotic plastic surgery of the joint (MAKOplasty). The procedure is carried out using the MAKOplasty robotic surgeon. This technology allows the surgeon to place a joint endoprosthesis with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. The doctor uses a 3D model that the robot performs based on computed tomography of the affected joint. The advantages of the Macoplasty technique include:
  • high accuracy of implant placement;
  • long service life;
  • there are practically no postoperative complications.

MAKOplasty is the latest generation technology. Therefore, robotic systems are not installed in all medical centers. It is necessary to check with the coordinating doctors of Experts Medical about the availability of these devices in specific hospitals. The cost of an operation using the MAKOplasty method is higher than conventional procedures.

Hip replacement in Israel: types of prostheses

Types of prostheses for hip joint

All endoprostheses used by Israeli orthopedists are certified and have good compatibility with human tissues. There are practically no cases of rejection or the occurrence of allergic reactions. The choice of implant is influenced by the individual physical characteristics of the patient.

Prostheses in Israel are made from materials that are safe for humans:

  • ceramics;
  • metal;
  • plastic;
  • combination of materials.

The implants are coated with trabecular metal, which, in its characteristics, is close to the composition of human bone. The outer part of the prosthesis has a layer of special porous material. Due to this, the endoprosthesis is in close contact with the bone, which quickly grows into the implant.

  • devices for preoperative diagnostics;
  • the chosen method of surgical intervention;
  • type of prosthesis;
  • Consumables;
  • individual clinic rates;
  • experience and qualifications of the orthopedist.

The average cost of a hip replacement in Israel:
