The American Hospital is an excellent hospital. My mother had an operation on her intestines here, a part of it was removed because of a cancerous tumor. Everyone, from the doctor to the nurse and even the cleaner, is very understanding, very polite and very helpful. I think it’s more correct to call it a hotel rather than a hospital. I would also like to give special thanks to Professor Dursun Bugra and Nurse Serpil. We put my mom in the experienced and wonderful hands of the doctor and he performed a wonderful surgery. I read many positive reviews about him, it’s good that there are such doctors. I also thank nurse Serpil, who was very caring, responsible and never left my mother alone, despite her busy schedule.

Diagnosis: bowel cancer

Chemotherapy helped with bowel cancer. Completed 6 courses. I felt bad, yes, but the cancer was defeated. The decision to undergo treatment in Turkey was made immediately, since you cannot rely on domestic doctors, they only want money. I was very impressed by the level of medicine in Turkey. Liv’s clinic is very high tech, the doctors are knowledgeable, and the junior staff is very friendly, even the cleaners! You feel support and a sincere desire to help. I’ll say right away that it’s expensive. I’m giving it a 4 only because it’s expensive. We went into serious debt to go to treatment. But thank God everything is fine, and we will earn money.

I am grateful to the Neolife clinic and its doctors! My mother was diagnosed with cancer in the intestines. She had an emergency surgery in Georgia and decided to undergo treatment in Turkey at the Neo Life Clinic. The level of treatment and examination is much higher than in Georgia (unfortunately). They did a CT scan on the latest equipment and prescribed treatment. Mom is already much better, she is actively recovering, for which I thank the clinic staff. Everyone is mega friendly and responsive. Special thanks to the interpreter Rosa, for her warm attitude towards my mother, for her attentiveness and responsiveness, and to the Head Nurse Chishchem Hanum and her team. Many thanks to Professor Neshe Güney for the correct treatment and friendly attitude! Thank you all for doing your job perfectly and sincerely. I really hope that your excellent attitude to patients and the level of treatment will only grow.

Rectal cancer was diagnosed; at home they said the prognosis was good, but only surgery and long-term treatment. As a result, I underwent treatment in Anadolu (4 courses of chemoradiotherapy), no surgery was required, and his lifestyle did not change. Almost two years without relapse, everything is fine.

Bowel cancer treatment in Turkey: main advantages

Colorectal cancer treatment in Turkey is performed by experienced oncologists according to international standards using gentle techniques. Colorectal cancer is the common name for malignant tumors of the colon and rectum, which WHO has included in the list of the most common and aggressive cancers. Its peculiarity is the propensity to metastasize to the abdominal cavity.

Among the main causes of pathology, doctors call heredity in the anamnesis, improper diet, the presence of polyps in the intestine, alcohol abuse and smoking.

According to the American Cancer Society, with timely detection and proper treatment, patients have a good prognosis – over 90% overcome the threshold of 5-year survival rate. Therefore, at the slightest suspicion or complaints of cracking, pain, it is important to immediately seek medical help from specialists.

Turkish hospitals are equipped with the latest generation of medical equipment. Patients have access to a wide range of advanced technologies, thanks to which in many cases it is possible to achieve cure or persistent remission. At the same time, the cost of colon cancer treatment in Turkey is lower than in Western Europe or Israel.

Bowel cancer diagnosis in Turkey

Bowel cancer diagnosis in TurkeyAfter admission to the hospital, the patient is diagnosed within 1-2 days and an individual therapy regimen is developed. This is one of the reasons why people choose colon cancer treatment in Turkey. The main methods of examination include:

  1. Ultrasound of abdominal organs.
  2. Colonoscopy – endoscopic examination of the rectum, if necessary, combined with biopsy, removal of polyps.
  3. CT or MRI – allow a thorough examination, assess the size, localization and prevalence of the tumor. Many hospitals are equipped with high-resolution systems Flash CT, Force CT. These allow for a 20-second examination with minimal radiation dose.
  4. Laboratory tests: they check blood for oncomarkers and feces for hidden blood.

Hospitals provide comprehensive diagnostics as part of a package deal. It includes:

  • Oncologist and surgeon consultation;
  • histopathology revision;
  • PET-CT;
  • MRI of one section;
  • blood tests;
  • 3 days of hotel accommodation.

Check-ups designed for different age groups are popular with international patients. The examination at Liv Clinic takes 1 day and is in demand among people on vacation in Istanbul.

Surgical treatment of colon cancer in Turkey

The main one is surgical intervention. Minimally traumatic procedures are prioritized, which in most cases allow for rectal cancer treatment in Turkey without sphincter removal.

Turkish surgeons use the latest generation Da Vinci robotic surgical units. The robotic arm rotates 360° and can reach the most remote areas. This allows the doctor to target the neoplasm without traumatizing the tissue and minimize the risk of recurrence.

An innovative robotic assistant, the AESOP Robotic Arm from Computer Motion, has been installed at Istanbul’s Şişli Memorial Hospital. It provides for controlling the laparoscope with voice commands, so that both hands of the doctor are free for manipulation.

Therapeutic treatment for bowel cancer in Turkey

A complex therapy scheme is developed by a multidisciplinary group of doctors, including oncologists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, radiologists, radiologists, pathologists. This approach allows you to choose the optimal methods of bowel cancer treatment in Turkey:

  1. ChemotherapyChemotherapy. They use modern American protocols based on the use of effective drugs with minimal side effects.
  2. Regional intra-abdominal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Conducted when a patient is found to have metastases in the abdominal cavity. The procedure involves the introduction of a heated solution of chemopreparations into the nidus. This allows you to get rid of the remaining malignant cells and significantly increase the chances of recovery in the treatment of cancer of the large, rectal intestine in Turkey.
  3. Targeted therapy. The basis of innovative drugs – special marker proteins that recognize malignant cells and destroy them, while healthy tissues are not affected.
  4. Radiation therapy. They use linear gas pedals TrueBeam STx, CyberKnife M6, which direct rays to the tumor with an accuracy of 0.5 mm. This reduces the duration of the session and increases the accuracy of irradiation. When surgery is not possible during the treatment of colorectal cancer in Turkey, tumor removal is performed with a precise dose of radiation on the CyberKnife unit.

According to the summary data of Turkish hospitals, after the treatment of rectal and colorectal cancer in Turkey at the initial stages, the 5-year survival rate of patients reaches 90-95%.

Colorectal cancer treatment in Turkey

The main method of treatment is surgery. Doctors do everything possible to remove the neoplasm and avoid stoma discharge. The choice of treatment method for colon cancer in Turkey depends on the stage of the disease:

  1. At the initial stages, endoscopic polypectomy is performed to remove the tumor through the anus during colonoscopy.
  2. In stages 2-3, a partial colectomy is indicated. This is a laparoscopic procedure that involves resection of the bowel through small punctures.

Treatment of colorectal cancer in Turkey involves reconstructive surgery to close the stoma with the formation of anastamosis (connecting the ends of the intestine) if stoma removal cannot be avoided.

Rectal cancer treatment in Turkey

The peculiarity of colorectal cancer is late detection due to unexpressed symptoms at the initial stages. With timely diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer in Turkey, patients have a good prognosis for complete cure.

Turkish surgeons of the American Hospital in Istanbul, headed by Fatih Aslan, perform rectal cancer treatment according to modern methods, which does not involve removal of the anus.

Transanal endoscopic microsurgeryThe main types of interventions in the treatment of rectal cancer in Turkey:

  1. Transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM). In this rectal procedure, the doctor removes the malignant tumor through the anus using an endoscope. The surgery is indicated in the treatment of rectal cancer in Turkey in the early stages of the disease.
  2. Laparoscopic intra-abdominal resection of the rectum. Removal of the affected part is done through several small abdominal incisions.
  3. Open intra-abdominal resection of the rectum. The operation involves an extensive incision, it is performed in case of an overgrown tumor. The doctor removes the affected parts of the rectum and nearby organs. If it is not possible to put an anastomosis, a colostomy is formed.

One of the best options for rectal cancer treatment in Turkey, patients call Hizar Clinic in Istanbul, where Mustafa Solak, an oncologist with 17 years of experience, and Kivanc Derja Peker, a famous oncosurgeon, are practicing. Rectal cancer treatment in Turkey allows to achieve a complete cure at early diagnosis, at later stages – to improve the quality of life of the patient.
