Treatment of a brain tumor abroad

My mother had sudden seizures. An examination ordered by a neurologist showed a brain tumor, presumably a meningeoma. We spent a lot of time looking for a doctor and chose Ugur Ture. During the examination, the initial diagnosis of meningioma of the left temporal lobe was confirmed. Dr. Ugur Ture and his team successfully removed the tumor without negative consequences. For this, we are eternally grateful to all the staff of the hospital and to our doctor in charge, and to the nurses who worked with us: Delara, Selma and others.

My daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2012, although the symptoms appeared much earlier. The diagnosis could have been made 2 years earlier if our doctors had the necessary equipment. First they diagnosed vascular dystonia, then migraines. It was treated with tablets. The tumor was operated on in Assuta. Now my daughter comes twice a year for routine check-ups. Back in 2012, we were immediately warned that even after the operation, a relapse is possible, but so far everything is okay. Of course, it would be possible to be examined at home, but now there is no trust in doctors. It’s easier to go to Israel and live in peace for the next six months.

When I was diagnosed with brain cancer, our Ukrainian Center for Neurosurgery could only offer surgical treatment. For me, the operation seemed like a disaster, so I began to look for other options and, as it turned out, not in vain. Professor Zvi Ram from the Assuta clinic chose a gentle treatment for me, which gave good results.

Five years ago, from Kazakhstan, I came to the Sheba clinic to have an operation for a tumor in the brain by the neurosurgeon Z. Kohen. Prior to that, I experienced 3 operations in Alma-Ata, so I did not expect anything good.

I was surprised at how quickly the examination went. We were taken directly from the plane to the hospital and had all the tests, MRI, and other examinations done in 1 day. The operation lasted 11 hours. Another day they let me lie down calmly, recover my senses, and then the doctor began to demand to get up, move more, rinse with water, including pouring water on my head. On the 6th day, he was discharged from the hospital. A month after the course of laser therapy, I calmly went home on my own legs and felt as good as before the illness.

All this was surprising to me, since in Kazakhstan the time after the operation is very painful. You can’t get up, you depend on people who help you do everything, you can’t wash, you can’t wet your head with bandages.

Now if I tell about my illness and treatment in Sheba, for many it is like a fairy tale. I am in follow-up by the cardiologist. Every time they read with interest the detailed extract that I brought with me from Israel, which describes the operation and treatment in detail. I do an MRI every six months and every time I thank the doctors from Sheba for the fact that now I am a healthy person. I live a normal life and have the opportunity to raise my children myself. And the most important person for me who made me healthy is Dr. Cohen.
